Audi R8's

Followed two of them home on the way out of town last night, the one sounded like an earthquake, mental.  Seen the one of them around Cheltenham a few times but not both of them at once.
Better start saving up lol.  Anyone on here own one??

Driven the V8 version, such a sound car, perfect in every way.

Considered getting one as the M3 has gone but looking to get an Atom 300 for the summer, something totally mental

Got a mate (well customer) with the V10 version, promised taking me out in it, still hasn't happened though, he's a busy man!!

They are good cars but I think the sense of occasion is missing when you drive one.

Walkie have you considered something from caterham? I almost wet myself driving the r500 a few weeks backs.

A bit torn tbh, always wanted a caterham and the R500 is a nutcase of a car

But the noise of that supercharger on the Atom!!!

What was the r500 like? Insane?

Beyond insane. The acceleration is something else. As a track car i'm not sure for the money it can be beaten. (never driven an atom so not in the best place to compare)
    KTM Xbow maybe?

R8s are really nice. Both engines sound very good, and different to each other.
Driven manual V8 on the track, with no limitations, and found it to be an amazing car. Gated manual has a brilliant feel, and the V8 sings at 5500-7000rpm. As for handling, brakes and general feel, its fantastic. Feels like its bolted to the ground. Its addictive.

Often find people say the V8 is better as its lighter. But according to brochure its about 20kg difference. Its really just down to money.

Should have kept going, pretty sure they aren't fast enough to clock you at 170mph.

The X-Bow is shockingly heavy. It does drive lighter than the stats would suggest but that kerb weight is a crime for a 'lightweight' with a carbon tub. It looks stunning though. I've been pining for an Atom 300 since my first taste of one - that supercharger whine is intoxicating and I just adore the design.

All said and done though, the R500 is where my money would/will go. It's not quite the event that the Atom or X-Bow are but the driver satisfaction is a notch above. It's also a decent amount quicker - not that this really matters at this end of the scale!
