Weighing in at 76kgs mate. I’ve got the cholesterol clinic later on this month. If I get the results I want I’ll start a slow bulk up to around 82kg. The issue is I need to do it without eating as much meat as I was in my heavier days.

Another easy session tonight

Double overhand deadlift
5 x 40, 60kg
3 x 80kg
2 x 100, 120kg
1 x 140kg 3 sets

Really easy but my grip isn’t great

Power Clean and Strict press
3 x 40kg
2 x 50kg
2 x 60kg 10 sets

Power Clean rusty but the press on each rep was rapid

Super sets

Medium grip pull up
3 reps 12 sets

Ab roll outs and bicep curls to finish

Nice one Brett. I am feeling pretty weak though to be fair.

Today’s outing

Strict press
10 x bar
5 x 30,40,50kg
3 x 60kg
1 x 70kg 5 sets
10,8,6,4,2 x 50kg

Super sets

Deadlift double overhand
5 x 40kg
5 x 60kg
3 x 80,100kg
2 x 120kg
1 x 140kg 5 sets
10,8,6,4,2 x 110kg

Dead’s feeling like more of a grip exercise than anything else, but doing double overhand dead’s will stop me being silly and maxing out.

Hi mate, I’ve got an appointment at the cholesterol clinic on the 16th. If my results are still poor then I will have to seriously think about the possibility of taking statins. I’m doing as much as I can to lower my cholesterol and keep it low. So I am running out of options really.

I have a fairly low fat intake, I have a job where I’m on my feet all day, I run twice a week and I go to the gym twice a week. There’s not much else I can do really.

5k road run yesterday with some steep inclines done in 28:42

Do what ever you can to avoid statins!

Are you still drinking booze regularly? I know a glass of red is good but needs to be kept at the one for its benefits

Too low fat isn’t great tho, you need to eat rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which lower triglycerides in the blood and heart. Fatty fish... lots of . Omega supplements aren’t great compared to the real stuff due to processing/oxidation/even sunlight damages them. Also look at the Mediterranean diet. They live the longest and eats tons of EVOO

Hope clinic goes well.

I do have a fairly good diet, mackerel three times a week and salmon twice as well. Lots of fibre rich foods like greens, beans, pulses etc. I do have the odd treat tea and I drink two or three times a week but I wouldn’t say it’s excessive. My resting heart rate is usually between 42- 58 beats per minute. Not had my blood pressure done for a while but last time I had it checked it was in the normal range.

I'm not convinced cholesterol is the medical bogeyman the powers that be make it out to be. I had a thread in diet I think that listed all the important notes I came across. Might have given it to you before? If not and you want to have a look let me know mate and I will find it.

Here's the link mate:

Cholesterol and bodybuilding? Do we fit into the 'average Joe' profile?

Have a read let me know what you think.

Also my trap bar is 35kg I think. Weighed it a few years ago.

Why did you split the pullups?

10k road run yesterday. It’s the first time I’ve done 10k in about 4 years, completed in 1:04:25 not great but it’s a start.

Not a bad little session at the gym today either. I’m feeling very positive at the moment with all of my training but most of all because I can feel myself getting stronger every week.

Push press
10 x bar
5 x 40,50,60kg
3 x 70kg
3 x 80kg 5 sets

Incline bench press
10 x bar
5 x 40,50kg
6 x 60kg 4 sets
10 x 60kg

Super sets

T bar row
10 x 20kg
5 x 40kg
6 x 60kg 4 sets
10 x 40kg

Ab roll outs and pull ups to finish. Workout completed within an hour.
