Whey has increased 22% in price guys.  If BBW didn't increase their price it would cost them money since they'd be selling below the price it costs them to buy it in!

At least they've been polite enough to tell you, while giving you an opportunity to stock up now.

How come there have been no batch testing results since 2010?

I wanted to order a tub last week, but was put off for this reason.

Good point, i didnt notice that. Would be very interesting seeing as there has been a change of ingredient, namely, sucralose.

Since when. It is important to specify the timeline here and also to point out prices are far from transparent at the manufacturing end of things - different people can get different prices for various reasons not all of them to do with volume.

Sucralose is common and currently well regarded, no?

As for the tests - best intentions can sometimes be hard to maintain in a busy company.

I would imagine the rise will be passed on by most brands on the next 1-4 weeks. Whey prices have been going up over the last years but the last 4 months has been a joke.

The price being passed onto the consumer is not reflective of the price increases being passed onto the brands. I did some calculations today and roughly, whey is costing us 40% more today than sept 2010. This is fact and can be seen in the wholesale shift on pricing currently underway.

if your paying £46.99 then your paying to much, try the price matcher

£43.99 is still a good price for that amount of whey although i have never tried the stuff

Demand is higher tha ever, driven by the far east explosion as a manufacturing entity as a change in there diet. Poor weather conditions, particulary oz and NZ who are big producers mean output is very low.

Supply short, demand high = price increases!

As per the message above from Graduate, we too have had a approx 40% increase in our price since October 2010 (but have only passed on a 10% increase to our customers of 5,00 euro), and to be honest with you it does not matter what volume you buy at the moment you can NOT get a discount because there is far more demand than supply.

As other posters have said ALL companies will have to increase there retail price (or sell at a loss) in the next few weeks, or basically when they have sold all there stock of lower priced whey products. We are in the great position where we sell a lot of whey, but the downside is we have to manufacture weekly to keep up with demand and it seems every week our raw material costs more from the whey manufacturer... PLUS in Finland we have to pay VAT on whey as well as from Jan 1st 2011 a NEW "Candy Tax" of 75c per kg for any powder product containing cocoa powder or sweetener... Yes I know a sugar tax on "healthy products" go figure!!

So we could be playing around £42 on average for a 2.2kg tub of branded whey? oh lord.

Yes it is, it wasnt the specific ingredient i was highlighting as the problem, more the fact that an ingredient had changed=poss different formula= new COA required and previous one invalid as it refers to a slightly different product??

    Understood!

I suppose best to let the company answer this one themselves.
