BUSA (brit uni sports assc)drug test powerlifters?

Do BUSA british university sports association drug test for powerlifting and track&field athletics - eg sprinting and shot put?

I wouldnt mind competing but dont want to be tested nudge nudge ;-)

Do many powerlifting organisations test in britain?

Thanks for your time my brothas. Stan

I don't know the answer to your question, so feel free to ignore this post:

Assuming the rules disallow certain substances, wouldn't it seem a bit of a hollow achievement for someone who'd benefitted from them? Or is Everyone Doing It These Days? There isn't any money in winning, is there?
Just wondered. Lets just keep this as a hypothetical question - no judgement intended.

Badboy - sorry I cant tell you which uni Im at since Im paranoid of revealing my identity - nothing personal thats what I tell everyone.

rapoZa - maybe it is hollow - I cant comment on what everyone else does as I dont know. Thanks for raising the issue though.

suggy3001, are you familiar with such competitions? Do you compete with BUSA powerlifting?

Cheers guys. Any more inputs welcome.

I already looked at the BUSA website - but there was nothing specific to powerlifting on the site.

What sport did you play if you dont mind my asking?

Im tempted to do field events in athletics but I guess they are less likely to test powerlifters. Not sure what I base that on - but I wouldnt like to take chances in either sport. Im not sure BUSA would have the funds for a steroid test - they cost £200 or something.....

Well, for starters, I'm not even sure that BUSA have held any powerlifting meets for a few years.

Secondly, if BUSA did hold a meet, the chances of you being drug tested are very slim.

If BUSA wanted their competition to be tested, they would have to pay for it. The chances of BUSA actually paying for this in powerlifting are very small. A bit more likely in athletics, but still very unlikely.

The only realistic possibility of you being tested is if UK Sport decides to send along a team of testers. What events UK Sport decides to send testing teams to is pretty random and they only test a handful (1-4) of competitors. The chances of them sending a team to your event is very slim. I was tested in this way a few years back however.

I've known quite a few people who have competed in BUSA champs in rowing and canoeing and they have never seen any drug testers let alone be tested themselves.

So there’s very little need to worry, ya big cheat.
