Not sure if any guys off MT were lifting today. That's the trouble with MT names - you don't always know! Clive Henry won 125+, Mick Ashurst second. Dean Bowring won 125s, Andy Rodney won 110s, ten lifters in the 100s, great competition, Steve ? won, nice to see so many competing against each other in the same weight category.

Best organised BWLA competition I've ever been to. Computerised scoreboard, good platform, great lighting, good venue for spectators. Shame about the MC...

Do you know how much Mick Ashurst weighed in at Martin? He usually lifts in the 125s doesn't he?

    Tremendous squat by Clive.

As far as I can remember Andy Rodney was 2 1/2 kilos ahead going into last deadlift. He missed his last deadlift, so the guy that was following him needed to make the last deadlift to take the title, and he didn't make it. So I don't get the "he was given it" thing.

Rob, Mick Ashurst came in at 129ish. Nearly gave us heart failure in the bench. Opened at 200, which he p1ssed in Catts a fortnight ago, and failed it twice and JUST got it third lift. Big Jim injured himself on his second squat and withdrew. Hope he's ok soon.

Jay, my mind may be playing tricks on me and I could be confusing Andy's third deadlift with Clive's. I was not aware of any "bad calls" where the referees' decisions were disputed, so if I've mixed up the two lifts in my head then I don't agree that Andy didn't make the lift. Sorry if that's caused any confusion. Anyone got vids?

I'd like to completely disassociate myself from your remarks about the referees.

Results are posted on British Powerlifting now, but they only show totals in each lift. Andy was 2.5K ahead going into deadlifts and had a lighter bodyweight than Sam, so Sam effectively had to outlift Andy by 5K. He had his third lift to win the title and didn't quite make it.
