Funnily enough I made a line manager cry back in the day and the area boss rang up and told me to stop taking the piss (or words to that effect) and I actually appreciated them for it lol.

You start a new job.
Your new manager says to you "make me a cup of tea".
Not "put the kettle on, let's have a cuppa".
Just "make me a cup of tea" said without please or thank you in a way that someone might say it to a slave.

Do you:
A) Tell him to make his own tea.
B) Make him a cup of tea and hopefully he'll like you.
C) Make him a cup of tea, spit in it and rinse your balls in it then enjoy watching him drink it.

Interesting question

Trying to put more context into it, - what is the nature of the business / your job?

New company, finding your feet,... they do say that you should start the way you mean to go forward, however.... I think i'd be tempted to just make it, maybe throw a light-hearted jokey comment in.  If I was asked again, I might say something like  "think it's your turn, mine's white with no sugar" with a smile on my face.  I definitely wouldn't let it become habit.  I wouldn't put up with his lack of manners for long either.

I used to walk into a room full of people & wonder if they liked me..... Now I look around & wonder if I like them

Every job I've done for the past few years my bosses and directors have always made me tea/coffee, which is quite nice. I did have a PA for a while but i would only ask her to make coffee if i had clients in the office and i was in a meeting and it was for all of us. Saying that my old MD PA is summoned into the board room and demanded to make coffee & order lunches etc quite regularly - but i suppose in someways thats her job? or atleast how he sees her job and he's the boss.

I don't see the harm in making the odd cuppa, but definitely the manner in which it is asked will determine whether I'm going to do it for you. I really buy into my job and will go above and beyond for every company i work for; come in at weekends, work late, have people round my house.

I would of made it the first time and waited for a thank you (i don't see i would of even agreed to work for someone in the first place where they wouldn't atleast thank you) if it happened a second time id be tempted to tell them to F off.

It always comes down to pettiness, make the tea, spit in repeatedly, stir it real nice like, all the while doing this discreetly of course. Hand to boss with a smile, boss will be grateful, working relationship improves, you win trivial pissing contest of sorts....

Nah, doubt any boss would tell me make them a brew in such a way, but if so, only be the once.

As a teenager on a YTS many years ago it was a different story, my boss was 6 foot 5 and a real cnut, enjoyed being a cnut on a daily basis. I would make brews and go to the pie shop etc etc etc, it was the norm back then for apprentices to have the piss taken out of them, times have changed. Built up to the point were i just wanted to fight him lol, came close on more than one occasion.

Anyways, a decade later i sees him in an indian restaurant with his buddys. He shouts over "hello Sean, how you doing?", i walks over the table and says "whay you being ****in nice you fckin prick?, outside me and you, you ****in soft cnut", he relied "Sean Sean, whats the problem?", i said "your the fckun problem, now fcuk off". Him and all his pals got up and left.

A few years ago he happened to appear at a wedding reception i was at. He looked sheepish, so i smiled and said "ok Ste?". We got talking and he asked why i had lost the plot with him, i reminded him about how he was a cnut when i was a young apprentice.

He replied "Sean your right, i was a cnut, and im sorry"

Not much work today, lol

I used to be an apprentice in a garage when I left school. I used to get absolutely ripped to pieces, locked in cars for hours on end, home made bombs put in my bag made from the gas from oxycetelene, stuff put in my my lunch. Someone threw a hammer at me once when I answered back, missed my head by about 2 inches and put a big dent in the door behind. I think you've just got to take it. It's character building. Aslong as nothing physically hurts you, it's fair game IMO.

The context is that the bloke was an undoubted 4rsehole of the highest order. Obnoxious, condescending and rude.

I considered C but eventually chose A.

It was a test, to establish on the first day if he would use use as a door mat.

You passed the test.

Dont suppose he tried to make you sing a song in front of everyone did he?

That's acceptable if the song is Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus. That means the boss is a great bloke, a real laugh, not a bully and no one should be remotely upset.
