Bench Press v Dumbell Press

Which is better??

Or sould i alternate each week?

Las week was bench press but i see some huge guys just doing bench press all the time...never using dumbells

    In theory DBs are better because they are unstable thus build more muscle but .. Barbell you can shift more weight so IMO it is swings and roundabouts .. I alternate em mate ..

    i find benching is more of a tricep and shoulder excersise than chest.

    my fave is hammer strength incline press followed byincline DB press.

    Yep thats how I start my chest WO too .. Hammer machines are very good IMO

    Yeah gotta be DB for me too. But make sure you get the for spot on. Don't be tempted to bring your elbows into your body and press from the sternum!

    Yep I used to do that .. does no good for ya chest at all .. I like to alternate a bit though between the two keeps me interested ..

    I don't I am at ( dips his head in shame ) Cannons .. nice clean gym , not the best weight section though .. Is bodyflex good for lifting ? been thinking about changing gyms for a while ..

    Cannons? is that over on fairford leys?

    Bodyflex is good, loadsa natural competitors train there and they have all the kit you could want, although some of it has seen better days. It's quite a hardcore gym!

    Ok thanks will take a close look , Tony is a Natural BB champ aint he ? yes cannons is on Fairford leys nice and new and all kit is good and new no free Barbells though only DB's and Smiths good cables and a few Hammer machines though ..

    Yup british champ and world number 2 I think - he has retired now but helps alot of the young guys down at the gym with contest prep etc. He was really helpful with me, said I should think about competing and offered to help!
