Bent over rows........

Any advice on how to execute dumbell bent over rows properly?? For some reason I never feel them work my back so I'm guessing my technique aint spot on. When I lift heavy, it feels like I'm working my bicep more than my back?? Maybe I should switch to bent over rows on the Smith machine or on a barbell??

My back routine is, Lat-pulldown, Bent over rows, Seated Rows (not a fan of Deadlifts yet.....I await the backlash!!)

    http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/BackGeneral/BBBentOverRow.html<< try this link

I think the general Idea is to feel the muscles in your shoulders contract together dont lift the weight with your biceps but try to imagine your arms as just handles and pull the bar up with the mucles in centre of your back .. you can try DB rows if this is easier for you

Definitely use a barbell rather than dumbells mate if you're having trouble feeling it in your back.I never seem to get the right feel for dumbell rows either.I prefer to do my rows a bit more upright than most.More like a 45 degree angle than the traditional 90 degree.Takes some of the pressure off the lower back because if I've had trouble in that area in the past.

Try them laying face down on an inclined bench, one arm at a time. Works wonders for me, tho the ego took a beating when I had to drop the weight

make sure you're keeping your back straight and taught as opposed to bent and relaxed. this should help.

    start - 8 stone 7 lbs
    current - 10 stone 1 lb
