Best way to play region 1 DVD's??

My xbox 360 isn't one of the originals so no multi region, its a newish one.

Or will i have to buy a multi region DVD player or just a region 1 really, if so can you suggest a cheap but decent one that will just play them. DVD not blu-ray.

cheers for any suggestions.

From another forum (the DVD player is about £18):

I've just found that the Tesco Value DVD player pictured at the start of this thread is a Technika 1030. I also found the unlock codes, Here

How to convert your Technika DVD-1030 player into a multi-region compatible machine.

To change the region on this player

    1. Press the Open button on your remote control to open the drive tray
    2. Press the Setup button on your remote control
    3. Press the Next button on your remote control
    4. Press the Next button on your remote control
    5. Press the Next button on your remote control
    6. Press the Next button on your remote control
    7. The currently selected region should be displayed on the onscreen display
    8. Using the Left button on your remote control, change the region to 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 255 for multi-region playback
    9. Press the Setup button on your remote control

It seems to work but I havn't got another region disk to test it.

I'll pay upto like £50, don't want to be paying much more tbh.

Also want it to be reliable with playing region 1, that's why i think getting a pure region 1 is better, some seem unreliable from some of the views.

    Dunno mate.
I have a dedicated Pioneer 717 from about 10 years ago that is chipped for region one.
Blows the picture quality of modern ones out of the water.

By any halfway moden DVD/ Divx player, tho phillips have done well with multi region hacks (it what most people do mate, nothing to do with reliability etc etc)

    http://www.amazon.co.uk...d=1248627198&sr=8-10

    1. Open the tray
    2. Press "9879", followed by the desired region code ("0" for all regions/region-free/multi-region)
    3. Press "OK"

Was the same for mine, best thing is Phillips have a small download on their site which you can download the latest DIVx and encodings to update the player.

Yeah i don't want to have it on my PC.

    Papa winning so far.

A multi region or region 1 upscaler would be better, i'd be prepared to pay more as well for that.

Is shipping for the usa expensive through amazon?

    cu3ed now winning.

I think i might get this one, unless you can find an upscaler as well for under £80 that will play region 1 as well.
