Betting help

Is anyone on here good at betting football results

I enjoy a bet on big games, but never really win anything

What is your prediction for the man u man city derby on Sunday

I have bet first goal scorer van persie but city to win 3 - 2, this was 150/1

My other two bets are first half / second half result, it is - city / draw and draw / city

I also have a bet on Southampton to finish in the top four

Football is one of the hardest sports to win at, especially if you're betting in the big, popular leagues. If it's just for fun then fine, but forget about ever making money from Premiership betting (and you'll lose even more doing correct scores and goalscorers!)

It's for fun and to make the game more entertaining, football doesn't excite me as much as it once did, this adds more meaning to the game. It's a little disappointing losing most of the time though lol. What is your prediction CC

I'd go for Man City to win, maybe by 2 or more at Paddy Power's 9/4.

first goalscorer is always a poor bet of course its good if you get it right but the bookies more than cover themselves.

They best way to earn money if your a full time gambler I know a few and you fancied man u to score and city to win as you do would be to bet some money on Man U then when they score lay the bet off buy betting on city.

If your betting online you can even sell your bet to someone else now then bet on city.

Most people I know who do this dont make a bet until the first goal is scored again if its man u but they really see city taking it they then get on City big far better odds that way and you may even have to sell the bet.

By the way when I say full time gamblers they dont do it with football thats just an example of how they bet if they do bet on football, as cheekychappie said its one of the hardest sports to win money at, far to many variables to get right.

The other tried and tested way is to bet small but do accumulators every now and again its your day.

I stopped betting on football. Mainly cause im the sort of person who hets addicted to things very easily but also because it ruined football for me. As soon as a bet os lost i lost interest in the game.

But if i were to bet on the derby id be very tempted to say city will win by 3 or more goals

No clue whatsoever, but I've a couple of friends who do those accumulators.. Several games and you have to pick the winners of each game, only need one wrong for you not to win anything but get them all right and you're laughing!

Thanks for the replies, I see a city win, but it will be close. This is the first time I have done first goal scorer with correct score. I have got first goal scorer right a few times. Correct score is very difficult, I like first half, second half result. As suggested I think accumulators, betting just on the result ie - win lose or draw is what I will do next

2-1 united would be my pick. 14/1 IMO a value bet.

TBH I only go with punts I think have a credible chance and are overpriced.

I just can't see united winning at the Etihad though, I'd bet united will finish 5th max in the league

If I was to bet on anything on City United, it'd be Aguero to score anytime and City to win. 19/10 Bwin

I tend to do better when I'm watching a game and betting in play.

If a team is dominating but there's no score then the odds steadily get better on them winning as time goes by.

As a large proportion of goals are scored in the last 20 minutes betting in play on a game that's a draw after 70 minutes where one team is well on top has worked very well for me.

If it's just for fun then crack on.

If, however, you're looking to actually make some profit in the longer term then:

    • No accumulators, combinations or other malarkey. Just straight 1x2 (ie win/lose)
    • No local derbies - they're generally passionate affairs where recent form is irrelevant
    • Subscribe to one or more reputable football tipsters (they're rare, but can be found)
    • Think long term and be prepared for a rollercoaster ride. Short term losing runs are inevitable.
    • Set aside a betting bank that you can afford to lose.

They look like smart tips for someone who wants to make money and who is willing to risk a lot, this is just for fun though, I don't want to be putting 100 quid plus bets on

I'm just playing with £1 - £10 a bet. Many times it's not worth betting on a straight win / lose / draw game unless I think I big upset will happen, accumulators and half time / full time looks like the best bets for me and betting in play for a goal / win etc in the last 20 minutes, poached eggs tip. I think it's worth signing up at many places as well for the free bets when you join. One of my bets was correct - draw / city this was 21/5 I put a fiver on it, happy days lol

Well, United didn't quite hang on for 70 minutes today but that game was a pretty good example of what I meant.
The sending off screwed the odds up though.
City were evens at kick off which looked great value at the time.

A good bet would be for chesterfield town to concede a goal in the last 5 minutes, that happens a lot lol
