Black Bagging

A guy at the gym recently told me that he had black bagged while doing running in the park and it was great for him to loose weight. Anyone heard of this or tried it? Results? Dangerous?
Basically its getting a black back and wearing it underneathe your clothes and then doing your CV. It makes you sweat more apparently.

Cheers lads.

I think there was a topic about this months ago and it was thought to be a dangerous practice.

It is VERY dangerous! The only weight you lose is water which is not real weight loss. It goes straight back on again when you drink. You are simply risking overheating your body and people are on record as dying from this practice.

This is probably the worst stupid fitness fad there is as it is so dangerous. At least most other things are stupid but relatively harmless, but this can kill you. Anyone who recommends this should be banned from working in the fitness industry in my opinion.

Definitely agree with this, I had a friend that amost diet as a result of passing out while doing this. Worst of all, as Cheeky said, it doesn't work b/c you are only losing extra water weight. I know a lot of our wrestlers used to do this because at a weigh-in a pound is a pound no matter if it's water of what.

Agree with CheekyChappie 100% about the dangers. The only time I would ever consider using this technique is if I was standing on the scales at a weigh in (boxin/judo type weigh in) and was found to need to loose X amount of kgs in say 30mins to make the weight. Even then its dangerous and may affect performance but if its a case of fighting or not fighting then I would consider it.

Don_al i should have mentioned that I would combine some form of cardio with the black bag to maximise weight (water) loss. Obviously just putting bin liner on is not going to be sufficent to loose a sig amount of kgs in a short space of time whether it be 10mins or 30mins

yes m8 i realise that u meant that. what im saying is u will loose more weight (water) in a short space of time if u combine the activity (skipping 4 example) with the bag on than without.

I think these water loss methods are just a way of encouraging people on their cardio. If you weigh after water loss it shows you 'losing weight' and keeps the motivation up, however a sauna is a much better method of doing this, and wont kill you.
