Boiler problems, arghhhh

Hey all, I'm needing some help.

I have a Heatrae Sadia, Amptec, C1100 electric boiler and have had no probs for the last 3 years.

In the last few days/week the boiler has fired up fine and will run making the house nice and warm, on reaching it's temperature it knocks off. When the house temp drops it kicks in and as it does so the red ALARM Light goes on and flashes.

I can turn the power off and it fires up fine and will heat up until it switches off, the house temp drops and the cycle starts again.

The system has been bled, re-pressurised and all air removed and the expansion vessel has been re-charged. I'm at my wits end, the plumber doesn't know to do.

I'm pretty convinced that even if the fault is fixed there is a reset procedure for clearing the ALARM fault but I don't know how to do it and the manufacturers were no help.

Do you have any suggestions? I'm haemorrhaging money at the minute and could live without this.

Thanks

Cx

If you haven't done so already, download this installation guide and take a look at page 21 where there are some troubleshooting tips on the red alarm fault.
I have fitted a few of these boilers but I've never had to fix any so I have no experience of repairing them I'm afraid. Disappointed to hear that the Heatrae Sadia weren't much help, they're usually quite good in my experience.
Have you checked all the electrical connections are tight?

    ah, nightmare mate.

but surely if you got the plumber out to fix it, and he cant, then whats he charging you for?  the plumbers i know wouldnt charge for trying to fix something, they would charge for actually fixing it.

personally id put that to him.  if its not fixed what have you got from paying for his time.  if he couldnt fix it, he shouldnt have took on the job imo!

end of the day, all there is in there is a coil, a few thermistors, a couple of valves and a control circuit, so there isnt that much that can go wrong really!

will keep fingers crossed for you thats it, although i wouldnt get too excited just yet!  let it get up to temp properly and cycle off and on first....
