Boots

Hi guys,

I'm currently training for the potential officers course for the Royal Marines. I want to do some fitness training in boots. and as such I'm looking to purchase a decent pair, and I was wondering if anyone has any advice to offer on this. I know not everyone will be able to help with this but I know there are some of you out there who have been involved with the forces, but any advice will be appriciated much the same. Initially i'm considering going down to the army surplus shop, to pick up a pair until I find something more permanant.

Cheers

I want to do some fitness training in boots.

They don't allow it anymore as too many old ladies were getting knocked over, but apparently Superdrug still do

You might as well buy a pair of boots that are on current issue as that's all you'll be able to wear in training. No point in buying decent boots to conduct pre-training in only to be issued different ones at RMCTC. At least if you buy a pair of issue boots now you can break them in and wear them on your POC.

Try ALTBERG, which is in Richmond, Near Catterick barracks, they a Website aswell, if you go to the factory shop they will measure your feet so that you get the best fit, they know there stuff, dont be tempted to buy a cheap pair, a good pair of boots will cost more initially but are worth their weight in gold, had my latest pair for over 4 years now, there as goos as the day i bought them and have been worn almost daily. HIAX and LOWES are also good brands. Other people i know bought cheaper boots thinking they were getting a bargian, 4 to 5 pairs later they realise they were wrong.

Just noticed your in shefflield, if you can get yourself over to halifax there is a family shop called B AARON and SONS in the town centre, they are also a supplier of forces boots, they used to (not sure if they still do) sell refurbished ALTBERG, LOWES and HIAX boots which have the advantage of being a bit cheaper if you dont mind second hand, the BIG plus is they are already broken in so no sore ankles!!

if you pass the Officer PRMC, they give 1 pair of boots to break in before you start the proper training.
