Very fine session mate. Good work

Not sure about the video situation. I did one once but it was such a palava that I couldn't be assed with it again. Many of the other lads post theirs daily - Ox, Dirty Vest, Animal etc. Maybe ask them?

Will do mate cheers. Also just re-read your post regarding the imbalance in quads strength- it is more to do with the angle of the knees ie. when they cave in or point forward it seem to work the outside of the legs more, whilst pointing the knees out it does the inner quads. The feet remain much the same. I would obviously exercise caution if you start experimenting with this (unless for specific injury recovery) as it could f*** your knees.

On a side note it's taking all of my restraint not to add some bis/tris exercises to the end of the session right now. Arms seem to be getting smaller with the lack of direct arm work but it might just be all in my head. Need to focus on shifting some heavier weight and then I can start pumping. You can't build a house without a foundation.

Heavy weight to start with mate, as you know but there's never any harm in adding a few bits and pieces at the end, especially some curls. And, no mate, you're arms will not be decreasing in size - don't worry. Perhaps they look to be if you're upper half is growing maybe?

I don't type mine out but I do change my foot stance during leg pressing and hack squats to utilise different parts of the quads/calves. Obviously, not so extreme as to point the feet too far inwards or outwards. That would be foolhardy.

Sessions are looking good mate, nice and consistent :)
For vids you need to upload to youtube then use the little youtube box at top of comments box and past in the link mate. Worth doing mate, can see any issues that you may not see yourself :)

So youtube is the only method? Can you block it from view from youtubers? I don't fancy it being up on the world stage, even though they could still watch it here.

I don't know tbh mate, it has to be set to public for those on here to see, you could take them down after a day on here I guess. Unless someone knows your channel I doubt many would see it anyways mate.

Apparently there is a setting for 'unlisted', which means that anyone with the link can watch but it is unsearchable on google and youtube. That might be the way to go.

Cheers.

I meant the chest/shoulders actually mate. Maybe the arms need to catch up a little?

I think it's probably more the whole torso to be honest Floydy.

I'm hesitant to add any more exercises right now, as I want to squeeze the most out of stronglifts without possibly hindering recovery. Besides I'm only six weeks in so they can't have changed that much. Who knows perhaps I'll eat my words when I see comparison pics.

Once the weights get up there I will be adding some fluff though. Plus holding out may help to keep me hungry for lifting down the track...

Good journal Brett, and I like your goals.

In terms of the YouTube privacy, just set it up with a random name and share them on here. You don't have to link it to any other accounts etc, and it is a good way to asses form and lifts moving forward.

I have made a youtube account and filmed the last squat sesh so will post when I get a spare minute for people to pick me up on form.

Week 6: Sat 12/11/16

Back Squats
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3, 100x3
107.5kg 5/5/5/6/5

OHP
20x5, 40x3
55kg 5/5/5/5/5

Hex Deads
75x5, 95x3
110kg x5

No cycle today - things to do!

Good solid sesh. As I mentioned I begged some random to film my last few sets of squats. Not the greatest cameraman but keen to help anyhow. I did have to pump out an extra rep as I wasn't convinced he filmed on all three angles like I asked, hence the sixth rep. Will post the videos when I get a minute to sort in the next few days.

OHP was good as were deads. Had to move some barstud heavy rocks and help build a patio, so cut the cycle from the sesh. Following day actually got some DOMS from the squats - first time in a long while!

Here it is folks. Squat vid as promised. Having a look at the form myself it doesn't look as bad as I thought.

I am very interested in your opinions- spare no critique please. I am keen to hear what you think about my knee movement - particularly at the lowest point of the squat. Also am I sitting back far enough? Stance too wide/narrow? etc. etc.

Nothing negative standing out too much to me mate.

I'd maybe widen the stance a touch, but ultimately it comes down to you and how you feel when squatting. Knees look ok, so I've got no concern there, they open up and you drop in ok. I always try and drive the knees out as I'm coming out the hole, and focus on keeping my chest up. I keep my back tight by squeezing the bar as hard as I can with my hands, and pulling it into my body.

Overall though, looks fine to me... I'm no expert though.

I'll leave the critique to the experts Brett, as I'm way out of touch with squatting these days. I can't see any major problems with your lifting there, but good to see a video

Squats look bang on to me, like Wolfy i'd say slightly wider stance for your leg length but as said it comes down to what feels right to you, worth experimenting with though.

All in all solid squats mate.

Cheers fellas! Great to get some feedback from experienced folk.

We have +2 for wider stance so I will have a go next sesh and report back. Thanks for the points on squeezing the bar Wolfy I will get on this. I don't feel all that stable in the torso and this sounds like it will help.

Week 6: Tue 15/11/16

Back Squats:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3, 100x3
110kg 5/5/5/5/5

Bench:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3
82.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

Pendlay Rows:
60x5
77.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

Pullups:
5/4/4/3/3

Gym was packed when I walked in and as a result I had to share the rack with some fellas doing some BB rows. I banged out the warmups in between their sets, but I think I went a bit too low as the sciatica started to flare up. It stayed with me the rest of the squatting. 110kg was taxing but all reps were sound.

Bench was solid. Feel like I could add loads to this but will continue the scheduled progression for now.

Today I made the most surprising discovery with Pendlay Rows. I started with sciatica, and by the forth set I realised it was completely gone! Sitting here the day after it is still gone. It was present during the day yesterday before training (probably through sitting most of the day) but only about 1/10 pain factor. After squats it was about a 4/10. Perhaps the pump in the lower back squeezes it all back in to place? Still something to keep in mind.

Was knackered come pullups but did the usual performance. Still entertaining switching this with some curling. Perhaps when the increasing effort in squats and bench makes pullups too hard?

Quick weigh in and I've hit 106.7kg compared with 105.8kg three weeks ago. Tape measure shows I've added 1cm to waistline.

Going to clean up diet a bit, as I don't want to be adding too much weight before the heavy lifting takes place.

Thanks for reading!
