Another week speeds by and no updates from me! A large part of it was internet being out for two days in my suburb and one of my toddlers having his tonsils and adenoids out.

Still lifts were lifted without skipping a beat. Observe:

Week 8: Mon 28/11/16

Back Squats:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3, 100x3, 120x3
122.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

OHP:
20x5, 40x3
62.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

Hex Deads:
75x5, 95x3, 115x3
135kg x5

Cycle 5min @ L8 = 2.66km

Good solid session. 122 really took it out of me. My jaw was sore after from gritting my teeth. OHP very heavy for me but hammered through it. Setting up on the rack was much better. Last rep was a real battle. Deads were good. Little sciatica tingling after but nothing too bad. Suspect form may not have been as tight as possible.

Weighed in at 107.8kg which is another 1kg in two weeks and another 1cm on the waist line. Eats are obviously still too high but acceptable for now. I want to maximise the gainzzz from all this effort!

Week 8: Wed 30/11/16

Back Squats:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3, 100x3, 120x3
125kg 5/5/5/5/5

Bench:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3
97.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

Pendlay Rows:
60x5, 80x3
85kg 5/5/5/5/5

Dips:
2.5kg 10/10/7

BB Curls:
35kg 10/10/10

Squats were tough but managed all 5 sets. Just. BP was another +5kg on last sesh. Heavy but manageable. Very happy with these but I will increment at 2.5kg per sesh from here on so I don't bottom out too quick. Always love rows. Last few reps didn't quite touch the chest but I'm still counting them so there!

Fluff stuff progressing well.

Thanks for reading!

Cheers bud! My latest sesh with OHP I am particularly proud of... will post shortly.

Eats are mostly good: weetbix in the morning, fruit tuna and peanut paste on crackers for morning tea, big f**k off chicken sandwich and eggs for lunch, fruit and peanuts in the arvo with more whey, dinner is whatever the family have, with plenty of whey and milk throughout the day. That is the standard with anything else like chocs or KFC popcorn chicken (a fav of mine) added in extra.

Week 8: Sat 03/12/16

Back Squats:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3, 100x3, 120x3
127.5kg 5/5/5/5/5 PB

OHP:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3
65kg 5/5/5/5/5 PB

Hex Deads:
75x5, 95x3, 115x3, 135x3
145kg x5

Cycle 5min @ L8 = 2.68km

Up at midday today, some pre-workout and then to the gym before the hour was out. Tried another spoonful of the coconut oil. Nearly gagged on the first spoon and stomach was unsettled after the stack, so might kick the coconut in the nut (!) and just have the powders and coffee.

Not quite in the zone today despite better than average sleep. Squats were a real battle to complete and a few of the reps were too far forward. One or two I think were a touch too high as well but most were breaking parallel. Still made it. Still a PB. Still good.

OHP felt very heavy. Long rest periods here between sets. Had it in my head that the last set would be 4 reps only. The little blue fella said "It's okay. You're not feeling great today. You'll get it next week."
Then the little red one came over, smacked him out and shouted at me [arnold] "DOOOO EEEEEIITTT!! DOOO EEIITT NOWWWW!" [/arnold] Without further ado I smashed out the last set and nailed the last rep with a triumphant roar.

Thats a new PB for me. Best I have done previously is about 3x5 65kg.

Deads were +10kg. Nice and solid. Felt a lot better doing these after the OHP win. Sesh today seemed to take about and hour and fifteen minutes. Perhaps a little bit long? This would be the rests between sets. Now I'm in heavy territory I find I am taking longer to recuperate. Might start timing the sessions to monitor.

Rewarded myself with a box of the colonel's delightful popcorn chicken tonight on night shift, to salute the end of week 8. Hell yeah!

Haha! Mentally it was harder than usual but yeah it definitely got better as it went on.

Chomping at the bit to smash 130kg squat and 100kg bench tomorrow though.

Cheers!

And roll on week 9! Sleep was utterly horrific last night as my de-tonsiled toddler seems to be going through the worst of it right now. Poor little fella- hard not to be annoyed in the wee hours but have to remember its not his fault. In fact it's ours for doing it to him!

Didn't go straight to the gym first thing like planned. Also didn't plan at being up at 5am (gave up trying to sleep at this point.) Had brekkie and hung around for a few hours before sucking up the pre-workout and double strength coffee. Stumbled into the gym around 10am and got to work.

Week 9: Tue 06/12/16

Back Squats:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3, 100x3, 120x3
130kg 5/5/5/5/5 PB

Bench:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3
100kg 5/5/5/5/5

Pendlay Rows:
60x5, 80x3
87.5kg 5/emergency sh1te/5/5/5/5

Dips:
2.5kg 10/10/9

BB Curls:
37.5kg 10/10/8

Squat form much better than last sesh. Last few sets were real belters too, pausing for several breaths on last reps. Considered bumping BP another 5kg but stuck with the 2.5kg and glad I did. Not sure I had it in me today looking back. Rows started okay but after the first work set realised something was horribly wrong, and as a result performed an emergency evacuation. This is where I lost all momentum with these and the last sets were a little sloppy and felt heavy. Fluff stuff still progressing and if I do say so myself pump was looking great.

Weighed in at 107.3kg so a touch lighter than last week. This might be down to difference in mealtimes and bowel movements though.

Next goal for squats is to hit 140 without faltering on progress.

Am also considering taking a week break either after week 10 or 12,  just to give the aches time to recover and to encourage sustained progression. Or should I keep going until I start missing reps? Thoughts?

Thanks for reading!

Sorry to hear that your son is struggling mate and hope he bounces back rapido.

Awesome work above.  Strong benching and squats.  Flying at the minute.  All that ground work is paying off nicely.

With regard to rest i would would be tempted to push on until you have a bad one.  Just keep on top of sleep (where poss), diet and mobility work.  Guess it depends how beat up you are feeling.  Should you do a deload will you restart a little lower (5% or so) or crack on from where you left off?

Sorry to hear about the nipper mate :(
Quality fatigued session there, nice squatting and lots of it.

Regarding rest...how long have you been going for without rest? Do you feel like you need to...is it just down to poor sleep at the moment. personally i'd say keep going until things drop off...even then I wouldn't stay out of the gym for a week...go in and lift light to keep the blood flowing.

Smashing effort mate and where possible get your rest, it's essential to give the muscles a breather for their growth. Then again, nothing wrong with training other parts in their place of course.
Hope your lad's okay mate

Cheers mate! He is on the mend... almost had a four hour stretch last night so all good lol.

As for deloading I've heard many in the past have come back after a week off stronger, though this has never happened to me. I always tend to loose a few reps so honestly I'd probably back off 2.5kg on all exercises.

Thanks mate. I was training before stronglifts for a bit and I am in week 9 now so I reckon about 4 months straight. There are a few niggles but I think you're right it's probably sleep related. You'll be happy to note I've decided to make 5x5 my b1tch and keep riding it until it don't go no more!

Cheers bud! All I really need right now is a few good nights rest. Hopefully before nights come around again! Hopefully little one is better soon.

Cheers mate. Weigh in was after the 'big move'. Because I do shift work it's hard to weigh myself under same conditions, because I might have had more/less food or a sleep before weigh in. Definitely makes a difference. I think I'm still gaining for now though. Cheers.
