Up to you. No knee jerk needed in my view. Leave weighing in till your usual day, if things have not budged, increase output first. Again, you know your body better than me. But god I'd like to know it more...

LOL. Maybe I should have put a vid of my cyst popping. You'd know my body then!

I will wait and see mate. I did go out for buffet last night and perhaps overdid it a little. Still just under maintenance though I reckon. Treating it as a reefed lol.

Brett So I walk into the work gym today and see some chick trying to do a squat/clean/DB shoulder press thing on one of those half fit balls. She gave up after a few reps. Or perhaps my subtle mix of amused grimace put her off.

I think that deserved a sneaky vid for review, and possible review of the chick as well!

The ridiculousness of her antics was only eclipsed by the ridiculous asymmetry of her face.

I really did laugh at the Danni comment!

Will see what it comes up as in a few days mate before weekly weigh in. I am 20% less cals than when I was maintaining so logic suggests I am still in deficit and must be losing weight. Just to be sure though I'll check lol.

TBF, although Kylie is probably my number one woman in the world, I would still very much give Danni one as well.

Nice work as always.

Saw you did deadlift and squats on stronglifts a few years ago?

What makes you not do them movements anymore, is it the sciatica?

Im just interested as I feel that for myself personally they are such a key to my training. And when I see people not doing them I just wonder how they get around it. I suppose you have a ton of volume in all your other movements.

This is kind of romance that is increasingly missing in the world. Glad to see it's not gone completely.

Cheers bud. Exactly that. I tried loads of variations to get them to work for me pain free. It got to a point where I had to really consider is it worth having pain 24/7 just to do some lifts that really is supposed to be for my health anyway?

I fully intend to get back to some form of squatting one day, albeit sub 100kg. High rep stuff is what I'll be doing. Deads are completely out for good. I'm avoiding any sort of leg work and have been for about 3 months now. The sciatica is still healing. Once it gets to the stage where I am pain free week in week out I will slowly start applying it again.

You should all be very proud of me today. I had the opportunity to devour a rare and delicious greasy treat. Like a monk in a harem it took everything I had to abstain, but I was in the end victorious.

Nightshift: Sat 01/12/18 2225-2325hrs
Cut Day #20

CGBP 3x8: 20kg x5, 40kg x5, 60kg x3, 80kg x2, 100kg x1, 105kg x8, x6, x5 (0)
DB Bench Press 3x10: 40kg x10, x8, x6 (-2)
Standing Cable Flyes 2x10: (L4) #8 x9, x8 (+2)
Lying DB Triceps Ext 2x10: 17.5kg x10, x10 (+1)
One Arm Cable Raises 2x15: #2 x15, x11 (-1)
Single Leg Calf Raises 3x10: BW x12, x12, x10 (0)

CGBP felt fairly solid with no pains. Almost sneaked in a 7th rep on second set but failed half way, in a controlled manner though as no safeties. No new reps here. DB bench fared even worse losing -2 reps. Cable flyes and lying triceps offered a reprieve adding a few reps. SLRs then lost a rep and calves were a challenge just to match reps.

TTT - 60 mins.

Probably one of the worst sessions I’ve had in a long time. If it didn’t hold steady it went backwards. Most likely a result of the diet in combination with lack of sleep, and not enough carbs in advance. Can't win 'em all though.

Cheers!

Pushing movements are always the first to decline when cutting. I'm always amazed how well my pulling exercises hold up but pressing always goes to s4it.

Just realised I’m now three weeks into my cut. Gone bloody fast.

RDO 1: Mon 03/12/18 1620-1720hrs
Cut Day #22

Pullups: -50kg x5, -25kg x5, BW x9, x7, x5, x5, x4, x3 = 33 (+1)
BB Incline Lying Row 3x5: (L5) 60kg x5, 80kg x3, 95kg x2, 107.5kg x5, x5, x4, 85kg x8, x8 (+2.5kg)
Smith Shrugs 2x10: 40kg x5, 60kg x10, 80kg x10, x10 ()
Lat Pulldown 2x10: (L1 narrow grip) 170lbs x10, x9 (+10lbs)
Concentration Curls 2x10: 20kg x10, x9 (0)
Reverse Flyes 2x15: (L7) 60kg x15, x12 (-2)

Pull-ups doing well adding one to second set only to lose it the third. In the end total was +1 so still progress. Rows added 2.5kg and felt heavy but controlled in work sets. Didn’t quite make all reps though.

As I said last week I’m now adding smith shrugs at high reps low weight to reduce the back compression. Felt much more effective. Lat pulldown being used and no time to wait so onto curls. No movement here. Back to lat pulldowns now and an extra 10lbs was due. Did well only paying out -3 reps.

Sciatica a little dicey at this point. Don’t think lat pulldowns are good for it. It is slightly annoyed by the lying rows but if I avoid putting too much pressure through the toes on the floor it is manageable. Might look at chinups to replace lat pulldowns or even single arm pulldowns to reduce the load? Reverse flyes nice and strict but definitely down by -2 reps.

TTT - 60 mins.

Not the best and not the worst. Fair effort considering low cals and tiredness from night shift. Weigh in a few days from now to see if anything needs adjusting.

Cheers!

Good numbers on those rows, mate. Do you use a standard weight bench to support yourself?

Shrugs with sciatica make me shiver.
I'm no expert but I can see a lot of downside with little gain. The risk/reward of that movement would be too much for me.

Pullups looking decent as always. I find pulldowns can pinch my back if back is not on point. Would dead hangs help stretch out back/sciatica?

Some high pull work, seated DB cleans etc are good for traps, if you're getting decent rows in they should be hitting them too. Probably would agree that trap focused work wouldn't be high on my priority list.

And be careful with how much you are increasing loads but then sacrificing over all volume when you are already on a fairly low volume... over 100kg LESS lifted on your pull downs this week compared to last

My mom had to go to hospital at the weekend as her sciatica was that bad, she's had it for years but the last few months has been constant pain. Dr said the pain and numbness she was getting wasn't normal so sent her to the hospital and she ended up staying overnight in order to get an MRI scan the next day. Was a bit worrying at the time because they were basically making sure that it wasn't anything else, luckily it was confirmed to be only sciatica, albeit very bad sciatica.

There wasn't much else they offered her other than keep dosing up on paracetamol. Its very debilitating for her at times although she is 65 lol. However she looks much younger than her years. But I do feel for you man, must be a pita at times.
