Moving along nicely Brett.  What kind of weights do you anticipate things will become challenging?

Pull ups could be down to the increased rows or perhaps bodyweight is on the up?  Would be tempted to keep them going.  Maybe drop some inbetween the squats or benching sets (if you are doing straight sets).  Keep up the good work.

Cheers bud! I expect them to get hard very quickly as I get closer to my 5RMs. I think about Week 6/7/8 will be around my previous working weight. If stronglifts is working I should be able to keep adding weight until at least Week 10. Then start the hard work!

I will hold onto pullups for now. I don't think I added that much weight over the weekend but I will weigh next sesh to be sure. I could do them in between sets for now but as I progress that time will be needed for recovery. I don't see the point in swapping them forward only to move them again later. Don't fancy swapping them to after deads either. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Week 4: Thu 27/10/16

Back Squats
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3
92.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

OHP
20x5, 40x3
47.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

Hex Deads
75x5
95kg x5

No cycle today - short of time.

I am confident with form on all of the exercises now aside from OHP. It just feels awkard to me and I seem to want to flare elbows. Will take a closer look next OHP sesh and compare with vids. Need to get this nailed before weight gets harder.

Week 4: Sun 30/10/16

Back Squats:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3
95kg 5/5/5/5/5

Bench:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3
75kg 5/5/5/5/5

Pendlay Rows:
60x5
70kg 5/5/5/5/5

Pullups:
5/5/4/3/3

That last rep on squats was a little taxing. We are starting to get to the business end me thinks.

A few sesh' ago I mentioned a stiff neck and thought it was rows. Well it was actually pullups. I managed to strain my neck doing the last set (I must have been putting my chin forward to try and get over the bar.) Today at work I'm a bit stiff but popped some Nurofen and am keeping it mobile, so hopefully be good for OHP tomorrow.

Also weighed myself - 105.8kg. Take off 2kg for the boots and I'm just slightly heavier for the past four weeks, with only 5mm extra on the waistline. Travelling well at this stage.

Glad all is moving well and neck has settled down.  Squats are approaching the ton and you seem to have a nice strength balance between your rows and benching.

Cheers bud! Neck was a bit sore going into the training today bud it held up well. I expect Rows will slow down soon and the bench shortly after.

Cheers mate! The OHP has always been a problem for me. I studied it closely today and I'm confident the grip, posture, start and end positions are all good. I am certain the problem lies when I press up the weight I tend to flare my elbows outward so they are about 70-80 degrees out from my middle. It is a conscious effort to keep the forearms vertical and about 45 degrees out. It just does not feel natural to me, however it does seem easier to press the weight. Sounds mad but true.

Perhaps it's just from doing them with wide grip and flared elbows for so long. This probably impacted greatly on the amount of weight I was able to press also.

Week 4: Tue 01/11/16

Back Squats
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3
97.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

OHP
20x5, 40x3
50kg 5/5/5/5/5

Hex Deads
75x5, 95x3
100kg x5

Cycle 5min @ L8 = 2.55km

Session today took a bit out of me, not sure why. By the end of deads I was actually out of breath. Last rep on squats was felt again but strong throughout. OHP as mentioned above was the focus and I believe I've narrowed down the issue: I will make a conscious effort to maintain correct elbow position and hopefully this will reap rewards in the coming weeks.

Cycle was hard work today for some reason so didn't make it as far in the same time. Might swap these with pullups as squats, deads and then cycle in the same day might just be too much.

And after many strange looks over the past weeks someone has finally asked me today about the boots. I explained the benefits of frequent squatting on a solid platform and the merits of good technique. He stared blankly at me before returning to his 23rd set of bicep curls.

Cheers bud! I honestly want to give stronglifts routine a good 3 months to see where it takes me. I've followed it as closely as my ego will allow and only added the pullups and cycle.

If progress slows I will definitely be moving things around or try a new routine.

Week 5: Fri 04/11/16

Back Squats:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3
100kg 5/5/5/5/5

Bench:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3
77.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

Pendlay Rows:
60x5
72.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

Pullups:
5/4/3/3/3

Finished nights yesterday and didn't sleep well last night thanks to a cheeky little monkey waking up at 5am. Really wasn't feeling it today and a lesser man would have skipped training. I am not he.

First three sets of squats were too much on the balls of my feet. Realised I was getting lazy and made the last two count on the heels. I think I might have my toes pointed forward too much or my knees travelling out. Knees should be following direction feet are pointed. Will assess next sesh.

Pullups were smooth and controlled to avoid any more neck trouble (still a little tender.) As a result there were less reps. Not a massive concern really, as they are there more as a support exercise and to smash out any left in the back after rows.

Good work Brett It's hard enough at the best of times to train with lack of sleep, but your need for the gym shone through and got you there. Credit to you bud.

The 5x5's look like they are going well. I go back to them occasionally, but unfortunately mI get the temptation to do a couple of sets, go too heavy on the next and blow it! Maybe after this current PPL routine, which I want to keep going for at least until next Spring, I'll revisit your programme here and get a few tips on how to stick to it

Well done for getting in and getting it done.  Bodes well you got it all done when sleep deprived. Moving along very nicely.

Cheers bud! Always been a fan of 5x5. Nice and simple. High reps I seem to loose count lol. I am by no means an expert but if you have any questions feel free to post.

Thanks mate! I am double tired today and I overdid it on the eats this weekend (friend stayed over from the eastern states.) Looking forward to smashing it tonight after work. Will make sure I get + sleep after though.

Week 5: Mon 07/11/16

Back Squats
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3, 100x3
102.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

OHP
20x5, 40x3
52.5kg 5/5/5/5/5

Hex Deads
75x5, 95x3
105kg x5

Cycle 5min @ L8 = 2.7km

Despite tiredness I went well this sesh. Squats were a little taxing but not too bad. Still seems to take the whole warmup and sometimes the first few sets to find the 'groove'. Don't know if this is normal?

Right knee was a little achy- I suspect it was due to me changing stances throughout squats trying to find the groove and making sure knees are following feet. Years back I was diagnosed with 'patellar tracking dysfunction' as a result of my outer squads becoming stronger than my inner quads. This was ultimately due to me squatting with knees inwards. I want to make sure this doesn't happen again so I need to get this right.

OHP was good no problems with form now, as was deads.

Itching for next sesh now!

Nice work, Brett Good to see you've discovered the quads size issue is to do with your feet stance, very interesting

Cheers bud! Just a little extra nugget of gold I decided to add for posterity. Some fella may just punch it into google one day and find the answer here. He will then create an account and post in my journal just to thank me (yes I am talking about YOU, Mr. Wonky-Knees. )

Week 5: Wed 09/11/16

Back Squats:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3, 80x3, 100x3
105kg 5/5/5/5/5

Bench:
20x5, 40x3, 60x3
80kg 5/5/5/5/5

Pendlay Rows:
60x5
75kg 5/5/5/5/5

Pullups:
5/5/4/3/1

Sleep has been a little better of late but still running on caffeine for now. Squats were great today- didn't take long to find the groove at all. Last few sets were a little taxing but no problem. I am thinking of filming form and putting it up here, but I don't know if you have to use youtube or if can you link to your own file on a server???

Bench smooth and controlled. Easily have another 10kg in there. Rows were a little taxing but steady. Form is a little bit too strict probably but no-one ever got injured doing that. Pullups were great too- smooth and controlled.

Roll on Week 6!
