Yeah I agree mate as long as its compounds. At this early stage anyway.

Yep will do the same routine. I am fairly limited in what I can do anyway so I try to keep the big to the biggest movements I can, which I am already doing lol.

Bit sore now after leg day. Trying to sit this arvo at work see if that helps at all. Cheers.

Have switched legs and push days to split the rest period more evenly with the rest of the week. Also swiped a new adjustable chair out of an adjoining office so will see how that goes for a bit. I recall when my back was it's best I was sitting at work for periods.

LEGS: Mon 15/04/19 1050-1140hrs
Week 5

Plate Squats:
20kg x10
20kg x10

Single Leg Squats:
5kg x5
8kg x10
5kg x10

Alt Single Leg Extension: (B6/L10/L4)
14kg x10
18kg x10

23kg x10
23kg x10

Alt. Single Seated Leg Curls: (B6/L4/L3)
43kg x14
43kg x13
43kg x10

Cable Hip Abductors:
2P x13
2P x10
2P x8

Standing Calf Raises:
BW +7.5kg x13
BW +5kg x10
BW x11

Instead of using kettlebell I did squats holding the end of a plate today. It hits the ground as I go down preventing me from going too deep, and killing any bounce. Single leg squats were closer to the bench making it very quad dominant. Trying to limit rom here a bit as it did feel a little worse for it. Decided to sack this off for a while during recovery and go back to leg extensions, which I stopped previously due to knee. Seems okay today. Also sacked off back raises... any type of flexion in fact.

Leg curls saw plenty of extra reps here from lack of back raises. Extra sets at the heavy weight. Interestingly back felt very good after these. Hip abductors are very painful but in a good way. Calves suck but work done. All done within the hour. Followed with some stretching.

Cheers.

Decent session bud.

You should be Alternating between periods of sitting and standing. It really is not good to stand still for the majority of your 12 hour shift IMO . If your were walking for the most part , like a postman that would be different. I probably do 2 hours up and 2 hour down.

Cheers mate.

Yeah I think you are right. When back is good standing for long periods is okay but right now it needs support. After a 40 min drive in the car it starts to feel normal so maybe sitting is good for it. Most people claim sitting hurts their back. Maybe like you say though it’s a question of length of time sitting/standing.

Standing, fairly still for a while starts to seize my lumbar muscles up. It's when they're tight that I run the risk of the sciatica flaring up.

Sitting not a problem, unless I am in the midst of a flare up.

Sessions looked decent (still getting used to the write up style change)... backs are always stubborn when it comes to being set in one position, they do like to be active

Yeah, sitting didn't go so well lol. These chairs are just sh1te. My computer chair at home I rolled up a small towel last night. After sitting for 3 hours it felt good.

Hey bud. I'm in an office but due to long shifts the powers that be had the foresight to buy standing desks. So we have the option. I always stand for the whole shift. People were freaking out yesterday cause I was sitting, asking if I was alright etc. lol

Cheers bud. Trying to simplify my write-ups. They were getting over the top and too messy I think. Hope it doesn't annoy people as I quite like it lol.

More changes on the cards tonight for exercise selection. Good news is (or was lol) that back felt great first thing getting out of bed. Pain came back immediately when I squatted to pick something up just before breakfast though lol. I have learned a rolled towel in the lower back when sitting does wonders, and piriformis and hamstring stretches are bad when you have a disc issue. Confident I am slowly on the mend.

PUSH: Tue 16/04/19 1035-1135hrs
Week 5

Bench Press:
50kg x5
70kg x5
90kg x3

102.5kg x7
90kg x8
90kg x6
90kg x5

Tricep Dips:
5kg x9
3kg x7
3kg x5
3kg x5

SLRs:
15kg x10
15kg x10
15kg x8

Cable Flyes: (L4)
8P x10
7P x10
7P x9
7P x7

Cable Incline Tricep Extension: (S6, L11)
8P x12
8P x11
8P x9

Lying Cable SLR: (L12)
3P x8
2P x12
2P x11

Bench added a touch of weight to heavy set costing me one rep, added a whole other set to compensate though. Still trying different leg positions, back flat and feet pulled in seemed ok on the final set so will try this all the way next week. Scrapped the shoulder presses and elected to do dips before the new SLRs. Dips also added 1kg to heavy set whereas SLRs started at a respectable 15kg. Cable flyes hit another two reps on first set without too much trouble. Replaced the standing cable ext with a seated variety. Bit of bother to the sciatica trying to find best setup. Definitely better mounting from the right of bench. Finished off with cable SLRs which saw a few extra hard fought reps.

Working quickly but still hit 60 mins total.

Cheers!

Only thing I don't like about it is it's hard to get a grip on just how much volume is there in a single window.

Cheers mate. Improving slowly every day. Today I woke without pain again so yesterday's push session is definitely safe for it. I'm going to make note of these exercises and save them for when I injure it again.

Swim 17/04/19

100m breaststroke warmup
3x 300m freestyle
50m breaststroke cooldown

Starting to get a bit cool outside. Winter will be interesting lol.

Was nice to have a little float between sets where the weightlessness meant there was no pain at all. Body was completely relaxed other than the erect icy nipples.
