Broke the 2x bodyweight squat barrier!
I tried a couple light box squats for speed yesterday, using the new inzer belt. After doing these, I really felt like I had the form down for the squat, and unlike normally, the move felt like it had a real groove. So, after doing 60k for 5 sets of 2 to the box, I chucked the box, moved it up to 90, did a single; 120, did a single; 160, did a single; 170, did a single - and made it with real nice form and power (shockingly).
At this point I was so buzzing that putting on 180 was tempting, but my training partner said that it might be best to just try 175 since it was so close to the last lift, and would still be a nice PR that I'd probably make. I got out of the hole on that one and started to move the bar up, but balence forced me forward and I had to dump it since my weight shifted too much to my toes.
170's a 10k PR for me, and the last time I got 160kg was when I weighted about 215lbs, rather than my current 180lbs or so. The belt seemed to help quite a bit, but mostly it seems that getting the higher weight was a confidence issue, and doing lots of lights sets before hand made me comfortable in the groove enough to really push the lift.
