My mind still boggles at your Close Grip OHP. Nice work tho. How's the head playing you now, calmed down a bit? What triggers it for you?

So do you think if I went wider I would have more strength?

Head is still a mess.
I have some personal and marriage issues, which I guess are also compounded with the missus illness which is causing me a lot of problems.
It doesn't help with me suffering depression and I am just finding things pretty tough going and confusing at the moment.

The problem is also at work I was one of the most senior people in the company. Had a team of over 30 engineers below me and I can cope with that no problem, but with home life I am a complete mess.
I hate myself, my life and various other things. I have no confidence and struggle with so many things.

I do go fairly narrow myself but I can still get my elbows under and facing fowards a bit. Your elbows get pushed out to the side, quite flared, which cannot be a technically strong position. It also put the wrists at an awkward angle I would have thought.

I've never suffered myself so I struggle to relate, but my Mrs and much of her family have an array of mental health issues and I can see the fluctuations and battles people go thru all the time. The thing is, there isn't a thing to put your finger on cos that isn't how it works. You see it a lot with high profile people. People who cope with hugely hectic lives, huge success, look to have everything, yet are fighting these mental battles every day. I guess with work there is a detachment from an emotional standpoint so perhaps it easier to be less connected and affected by things - not the case with your loved ones and family especially when so much rests on your shoulders. I guess, I dunno really

On a less important issue, I think you should try shoulder width or fractionally outside.

On a more serious note, I hear you. Are you on any medication? If you have time, try these books from Dorothy Rowe: Depression, the way out of your prison. And 'The Successful Self'. Loads more by her too. Very different mate. Try them, What do you have to lose...

Back to bodybuilding? I'm having a mid-life crisis: https://www.muscletalk.co...e-crisis-m5455232.aspx

Ahhhh mate I feel sh1te for posting a beiber pic now...

Sucks that you're feeling down bud. Can't really say I've been down that road but I do sympathise with people going through such struggles. I think a lot of people get into the gym because they have body/self perception issues (myself included) and I do think it helps with self confidence.

And don't worry about the others on the rig- you were bound to cop it but it does in fact look good!

Keep lifting. I find it certainly helps to stay grounded with routine and is a good break for the head.

Sorry to hear of your personal issues Jody. Without meeting you personally I do feel that I know you pretty well after the past three years and it makes me feel pretty concerned about you and your problems, especially when you've been through similar upsets before with those very close to you.

Don't worry about the name calling though bud, that's just work banter caused by boredom and childishness on the part of others, although of course it isn't very pleasant to have to suffer that crap when you have your mind on more pressing matters. Try to ride it and give those guys a sarcastic grin and laugh it off if possible.

Train hard buddy, if and when you can fit it in - it's our sanctuary and our 'me time'. And remember pal, I'm a PM away if you are flying out from Hull at any time. I'm only too happy to meet up for a coffee.

Take care buddy

Thanks, as you said nothing to lose by reading them.
Went to the docs and they said they can't do much as my meds are already on the max dose and changing would take a fair number of weeks due to the high dose.
He said I need to figure out what I want in life, but F me I knew that already that's what I was trying to do.

Don't worry about the comments Brett, I love the banter.

Cheers Loz.
The banter is something I can cope with. I am probably one of the most cutting and sarcastic of the lot of them.
I am signed off for 2 weeks then I have my 3 weeks leave so I hope I can sort stuff out before next offshore.

That's why I normally wear head phones.
I need to figure out something new as even though that was pretty far through the routine. I find the max lift on the machine to be too light still.
Yeah it depends on who is in the back ground. There was a girl earlier who spent about 3 minutes before each deadlift sorting out her trousers and vest and sports bra... quite funny.
