Bulking and fat gain

Hi,
At the moments i'm on a cut so this is for future reference. Every time i bulk i seem to put on a lot a fat, not huge amounts but from very lean, i.e. washboard stomach and visible abs. By the end though i have a clear gut.

Am i overeating on my bulk do you think or this normal? is this inevtable to gain muscle? I am prepared to put on a little fat obviously but not really to the extend of getting a spare tyre round my mid-rift.

Also how much realistically in lean weight can i add a month, not on steroids but my routine is good and i use creatine.

I've looked back at this and i know i'm gonna get the 'depends on a number of factors' but none the less give me some opinions please.

depends on a number of factors

you dont get fat overnight, nor do you gain quality mass overnight

    eat, monitor and adjust accordingly

how much lean weight? again crystal ball time

Go and see a nutritionist. They will be able to monitor your bodyfat levels and adjust your diet accordingly.

I have been eat, monitoring and adjusting, and this method has worked very well for me, especially cutting. However i think on bulking i am adjsuting too quickly, i.e. increasing calories too quickly, so i am simply asking, ceteris parabus how much weight would be a resonable gain per week if my diet was enough calorories above maintenance to put on lean muscle mass only?

If i'm missing something please let me know. I know there are a number of variables, but give me some abstract, it gets very boring in here when every post is replied to with 'depends'.

and my other implied question, was how much body fat do yout tend to put on in a bulking phase? i am asking for others experience rather and not expecting a hard and fast answer.

i have put on 48lbs in a year

    how much fat? not sure

if you did go for the eat, monitor and adjust accordingly, assuming your goals werent to get fat, you wouldnt have done so?

    cut back

it maybe your training that is off, or some other factor other than diet

    bored with the 'depends' answers?

if i had the one and only answer i would be a millionnaire

unfortunantley it is difficult to measure how much weight gain is fat and muscle, as TT says "eat, monitor, adjust" ensuring your comfortable with your physiche as you bulk.

Once you see your heading towards the "gaining too much fat" point, analyse your diet and make tiny amendments, give it a week or so and see how it goes

Basic rule of thumb is that you shouldn't be gaining more than 1lb of weight per week when bulking, otherwise it's likely that you're adding significant fat.
