COMPETITIONS

Hi Ladies,
this is my first post in this forum but I feel that I already know many of you from your very informative posts and would greatly appreciate your advice.

Of all you female MT subscribers, how many of you actually compete in BB/Physique/Fitness competitions?
How many years had you been training before your first competition?
How successful are you?
What are your BF% (off & on season)?

I have reasonable muscle definition (BF 18%) and my PT thinks that with work/diet I could think about competing next year. I like the idea, but would hate to be laughed off stage!

From some of the NPA(?) pictures that I have seen maybe I'm not a million miles off.

What would your suggestions be for someone like me (obviously I appreciate it is very difficult without pics./stats.)?

All help greatly received!

Is that you in your profile?????

I compete in the NPA and BNBF although I was not 100% with my condition with the NPA one so may do another later this year. Your bodyfat sounds pretty already, much less than I started off with in Jan. I was training approx 2 years for my comp but only maybe 9mths with the right programme and diet.

I was originally doing the Figure but was advised I would be more suited to Physique so I need to wotk on condition now.

Why don't you get some photos put up or if you're too shy then you can mail me and I'll let you know what I think

    Thanks Kitty,

if only that was me!! Well, if it was a very quick look (after a few...ok ...loads of vodkas) we do look very similar!! Well, same hair anyway.

I would be very grateful if you would look at some pictures (I'm a bit shy so I'll mail you if thats ok).

I'll get my digi. out this weekend and get my PT to take a few snaps.
Maybe after I see them though - I might change my mind, and take up line dancing instead (woops, no disrespect to all those cowbys & cowgirls out there!)

    did pretty good last year.

dont know, i have pictures of both on my website though

its not about what your BF % is , as thats the one thing that can be changed dramatically in the weeks preceding a competition.

Best thing is to go to a few shows, study the criteria for the different categories in the different federations, and decide which one might suit you best, in terms of your body shape and level of muscualrity.

    Thanks Liz,

I had already decided to go to a few shows to see what the competition is like - I'll be able to make a better decision then.

I did not know much at all about bodybuilding and fitness until a few weeks ago, I only watched a competition yesterday here in Cape Town, the first time for me to see something like this. (http://missfitness.co.za/).

What I would not have known is the amount of dancing and choreography involved, jumps, etc ... not all just about standing there posing and looking good, was impressive :)
