There is a test known as the Origin test where it calculates BMR, RMR.

Other than that there is no real way of finding out how much you burn during the day, it can be a case of perhaps using a rough estimate provided by one of the online calculators that you find such as the above link, and then recording and gauging your progress from there.

i dont think that works very well, it says i need about 2200 caloories to maintain, add 500 to gain? = only 2700, im getting way more than that right now and not really gaining

however another one i did said 3200+ to gain which i think is about right

Thats the problem with asking a computer on how much you should be eating.

Origin Test would be the choice.

Totally agree. Counting calories isnt the best approach all the time. Get to know your body and test yourself from week to week. I tend to weigh my food and adjust it according to my goals. Only you know your body. If i follow someone elses diet it may not be as effective as if i adjusted it to suit me. also eat according to your lifestyle. Dont go eat a load of carbs if your gonna be sitting down all day.
