Can I do Rowing machine and Bicep curls on the same day?

Hi, I know that when you exercise a muscle you must give it time (at least a day or two) to repair before doing it again. I do 20 mins on the exercise bike and 10 mins on the rower everyday for my cardio workout. I know that the rower is mainly viewed as a cardio machine but I do find that it exerts my biceps quite a bit with all that pulling.

Should I try to avoid doing the rower around the same time as I do my biceps? Or would the rower not exert my bicep muscles enough for it to be a problem?

Cheers.

you're generally advised to do all exercises for a specific muscle in the same session anyway, So I'd say this was perfectly fine

i think he means after he does his biceps/back day is he ok to get back on the rower the next couple of days, as when he is on the rower he exercises his biceps and not giving them time to recover/repair, is that what your asking?

ah ok, In that case I think you should still be fine, I think a lot of people put too much emphasis on overtraining, I reckon you would be in no doubt if that was the case and you were indeed overtraining your biceps

Sorry, I've not explained myself very well.

What I'm wondering is should I only do the rower on the same day as I do my biceps? I currently do the rower everyday but I only do my biceps twice a week.

Even though I view the rower as a cardio workout, it still give the biceps a bit of a workout. Might doing it on days other than my bicep day be stopping my biceps from getting the proper rest it needs between weights sessions or would a is a rower workout not likely to be of a high enough intensity to really make a difference?

I hope that's a little clearer (although it's probably not).

Imo post up your whole routine, biceps only need to be hit 1 time a week and doing rows everyday doesn't sounds like a solid routine. But if you choose to do a back and bicep day like alot of people do rows first because if your bi's are dead you wont be able to do them.

Rowing everyday will not hinder your bicep workout or gains.

As Airborne says - don't worry about it. And b_light, and body4life, you do realise he's talking about the rowing machine not resistance training?

    Here's a suggestion

See how strong you are (how much weight you can move & reps you get on your bicep movements) after you've done your rowing.

Then, next week/time, forget the rowing, - but make sure you warm up, very, very, lightly (so all your tendons, ligaments and muscles are nicely warmed up, but your arms etc are not fatigued in any way whatsoever), and see how your biceps fare this time.

If you can move more weight (find you can do more reps etc) on your work sets when you dont row first, I would leave out the rowing on bicep day

He doesn't actually say he's doing rowing and then going straight into a weights workout including curls. Obviously doing the rowing after the weights is much better anyway - and I don't see any problem with that.
