Can anyone recommend a tried and tested free anti virus for windows 7?

Just bought a new netbook but I don't really want to pay for an anti virus/spyware thingy as I know there are lots of decent free ones about. I just don't know which are good and which aren't?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Avast for sure, and malwarebytes. Cannot recommend malwarebytes enough, more important than AVG by far. I work in a computer shop and malwarebytes removes most of the ****ty thing likes security tool! Don't use the new AVG, its cack!
