Car brake-in

Just had my car broken into outside my house. Can't really complain considering I live in east London and haven't had any trouble since moving here almost 4 years ago. They took my stereo, which I stupidly left in the glove compartment. Not too bothered about that, at the end of the day it's a £100 down the drain, but no big deal. More worried about the gas utility bill and credit card statement they took. The bank and credit companies tell me "they can't do anything with them" but I'm not convinced. Tbh we hear so much about identity theft and what people can do with a couple of our documents that it's worrying that thieves have something in their possession which in a sense makes them you. Police don't even wanna come out and dust for prints even though there's a massive palm print on the boot where they've gone in! What a joke! Bummer of a day lads.

My missus had her car broken into, they tried to do the steering lock/ignition with a screwdriver, when it failed to work they left the screwdriverin the car......the police couldnt be arsed to take prints off of it,even though u could clearly see oily fingerprints on it..........
Ur scenario sounds about right for the plod mate!
Useless at the best of times!
my area have one of the lowest crime detection rates and after dealing with them on a few occassions I can see why!Totally useless down here so u aint on ur own mate.

The lower-level Met Police are a joke too mate, I've dealt with them on a couple of occasions. Real PC Plods, couldn't find a sweet in a sweet shop without consulting detectives and CID if you ask me - Even then they have difficulty! 18 year old pimply kids scared of their own shadow a lot of the time. What a joke - only thing is, nobody's laughing - except the criminals who've never had it so easy, even in today's forensic driven world. Where's the deterrence?
