Car wheel completely stuck on

Ok I'm miffed enough as it is that I'm having to change brake pads already (I had discs and pads changed a year ago). Even worse when I go to take my offside front wheel off, it is seized on, I did take the wheel nuts off. Grrrr. I've tried using leverage and brute force, not too much coz I don't want to ruin my alloy.

Any Ideas?

Unfortunatley Steel and alloy will always fuse together

I'd guess your only option is to hit it with a sledge hammer - but not sure what state the wheel will be after you've done this !

(remember , you are not trying to physically "knock" the wheel off - you are just trying shock it to break the corrosion bond)

    Yep.

Put lots of padding down your alloy is going to land. Get yourself lying under the car were you can really boot it with both feet and kick it flat footed with one foot either side of the middle.

    DON'T DO THAT!
The alloy will land face down and scratch.

Hit the tyre with a rubber mallet (on the wheel bolt side). Keep working round it, it should come off within a minute and no scratched alloy.

Yep - jack up that corner gently knock the inner rim with a mallet, turn 90 degrees, hit, turn 90 degrees, so that the bond will finally break. You have to do the same method getting brake disks off when they have bonded to the hub.

Oh and when you get it off use some copperslip on your nuts and the contact surface of your alloy wheel so that this doesnt happen again!
