Cardio after weights

Is it ok to do some cardio work after you have finished your bodybuilding routine? I train 4 times a week and cardio twice.., and I am trying to get lean.

It is best to do the cardio on a different day to your weight training.

If you must do the cardio after weights then have some whey in water before you start the cardio.

Boxer -any particular reason why not doing cardio after weights is frowned upon?

It's just because your body is already in one heck of a catabolic state after the weight training.

    Ok - cool.....

But that leaves 3 days in which to do cardio, should I do it on just 2 days and 1 day complete rest or should I just do it on the 3 days I have off from bodybuilding?

Also, what sort of intensity should I do if I am trying to get lean?

Agreed Boxer, your body is in a catabolic state. But if your aim is to lose fat quickly rather than maintain or increase muscle, then doing cardio after weights is a good thing imo.

After 45mins heavy weightlifting, you've depleted your glycogen stores, and you'll be burning fat immediatley, why not pop an eph and keep your heart rate up?
Granted you may lose more muscle because of the cortisol, but it shouldn't be that much if you limit the cardio to an hour.

Of course, I suppose it depends on the bodytype also though, if you gain fat easily, you probably gain muscle easily also, and vice versa.
And of course, you would burn the glycogen anyway if you just did a bit of extra cardio, but I'd much rather lift weights.

Personally I agree with Boxer. As lifters/BBers etc, preservation of muscle tissue is very important

    Pop an eph?

Is it a fat burner? I am thinking of using stacks.

i would have to agree with DV and boxer on this one. In a body builders point of veiw, they spend ALOT of time putting on the muscle, they want to keep it. but if your trying to get smaller not worrying about muscle loss then cardio after weights is fine

My aim is also to loose body fat but I also would want to keep/gain muscle.

I do 1hr - 45min cardio in the mornings at my gym and then weights at home in the evening... will my body still be in a catabolic state?
