Cardio and Fat loss....

Hi, just wondering of this will work really..

I weight train mon-fri evenings....but i really want to lose BF% without losing muscle.

I am going to start on this routine to get it down. I have already altered my diet just adding in the cardio now.

Mon-fri Eve weights

Mon-Fri AM before breakfast. Cardio wk/out. Run 30 mins

Sunday afternoon in gym 5k steady run
I cant do saturdays as sometimes play sport.

I am around 18%BF and i am hoping to get down to around 10%BF in about 10 weeks...is this reasonable expectations?
Also when i start to reach my target should i start to cut days off the cardio?
Then how do i maintain my BF%? Or is that all dependant on diet?

Any thoughts would be most appreciated thanks.

Cv work is only one stage of fat loss remember that what you do for 1 hour whether it be cv or weights the other 23 hours have to be worked at with your diet and rest..as to the weights imo i think your over doing it,doing weights every day as you say will over load your body and you'll end up sooner or later with serious fatigue or an injury.

You say that you are doing your cv work before breakfast- if you must train before breakfast then at leat try and have a whey shake before you commmence with your cv workout, remember that uve been asleep for 7-8 hours and your body will be at a serious catabolic state and muscle glycogen will be very low.the last thing your body wants to do is exercise, get some fuel into your system so you can prime your muscles and metabolism for the day and also have the energy for a good cv session.

As to the type of cv work..i would highly recomend HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) this type of cv work is very productive for fat loss.(see posts in this section) and also known for its minimal muscle loss compared to most cv workouts.

Remember that as you add muscle your ability to burn the extra calories will increase.

Wish you all the best mate.

Thanks for the advice. The only reason i do cardio in the morning is that i use to train cardio straight after my weights....i was told this was detrimental to building muscle and that i should split the training to do cardio in the morning.
When would you suggest i do cardio as i want to lower my body fat as much as poss?
    Thanks
