Cardio and muscle mass

What is the most amount of cardio that can be done per week, without causing loss off muscle mass?

depends more on protein intake and weight training.

but a mate of mine is prepping for a contest and is doing and hour before breakfast 6 days per week. works for him

I pretty much have no fear of muscle loss through cardio simply because my protein & overall calories are high enough. During the cut up periods i do about 30-45 minutes of cardio (empty stomach) and i get great results from it. If you are worried about muscle loss, take some glutamine pre and post cardio.
