Changes to Powerlifting Competitions

What changes would you make to powerlifting competitions?

I would make two changes:

(1) Include the overhead press in addition to squats, deadlifts, and bench.

(2) Elimination of all aids - belts, wraps, etc. Only chalk would be allowed.

What about you guys?

Just make it raw like both you mentioned already.

I would like to see how strong simply the human body is capable of rather than seeing the human body do it in a spring loaded suit.

absolute bump to raw (just chalk).
about the overhead press, dont you reckon adding another lift would make participators tired?

IPF rules with only a belt. no wraps, suits or shirts.

Overhead press is an interesting one...

I would love the concept of raw ......with a belt. For this reason alone I dont consider my maxes in meets my real maxes. My friends get shocked when I say I can only squat 425 now =p. Overhead press would make some sense since thought, although I would think my leg drive would be mush after squats/deads, along with my tricepts.

I'm picking at strings here, but wouldn't an OH press event spark off comparisons and too much of a correlation between Powerlifters and Oly Lifters with their split jerk?

Still, would be interesting to see

Get rid of all this shirt and suit nonsense. It's rubbish.

absolutely raw, maybe chalk. OHpress should replace bench, or join it.

Whatever happens with regard to overhead press, there should always be a regular dead/bench/squat powerlifting comp, since this is what happens in real life.

I'd go for raw too.. no assistance.

As for lift choice.. well If the lift can benefit greatly from technique (as in Olympic lifts) then it shouldn't be in a POWER lifting competition, IMHO. Of course there is always going to be the best form required to lift the most weight but the technique shouldn't be the difference between being able to put 150kg and 80kg above your head for example. IMHO that means events like

Bench, Squat, Deadllift, Overhead Press etc .... a max ROW might be an interesting one to see or some pure back pull event for example.
