Chasing DSS payments

It seems quite a few people on here, rent out properties, so was wondering if someone would be nice enough to point me in the right direction. I rent out my house that I bought with an ex. Only problem is I've not received and payments from the council this month, previously it was all sorted out by a management company. But this month the payments is meant to be paid direct to me, only problem is I've not received the payment. So wasted the last hour going round on circles on the government website trying to find some contact details of who I need to chase, but with no luck.

So was wondering if anyone knows, who I have to speak to, to chase these payments.

expect a high probability of speaking to some complete fckwit that hasnt got a clue what they're doing when you do get connected....

If there's a problem or an issue then get the converstaion confirmed in writing (my experience of local authority is that phone conversations turn out never to have happened, when that suits them).

If you're lucky and get someone on the phone who sounds like they've got a higher IQ than a chimp then get their name and extension number and make a point of asking for them again in the future. Be polite and friendly to them - they're a rarity in local government, hold on to them!

I was receiving housing benefit last year which they recalculated 4 (yes 4 times) before arriving with the correct figure.

Now they are chasing me for £110 that they overpaid me nearly a year ago!

Tell your tenant he faces being evicted if he doesnt sort it. Why should you be ringing up about his rent?

It is standard for local councils to pay tenants directly nowadays since they introduced LHA (formerly housing benefit).
There are certain criteria whereby payments can be made directly to a landlord but to be honest (unless faked!) if your tenant can meet them, they are not the sort of tenant you want!

It is the most ridiculous scheme the government have ever introduced tbh and has cost my agency a lot of money due to tenants spending their rent and the total losses across the country since its inception is millions!

Dont even get me started on the caps they are putting on LHA rates in April! Thank christ my business isnt in London or it would be costing me a fortune!

    Grrrrrrr...rant over !
