Cheese on toast

How do I like my cheese on toast you ask?

Well, I like to keep things simple. Plain white bread with slices of red Leicester and perhaps a small blob of butter. Placed under a grill until the cheese starts to melt but not blacken.

And what about you?

Red Leiceseter is a decent shout. And definitely white bread, something plain so the cheese can do all the talking.

You don't go for a dash of Worcestershire Sauce or Tabasco?

Not had any for ages, I like a strong cheddar

I like strong cheddar too.

I dont have it often but if I do

I like to get the bread put some honey on one side heat it in a pan so it goes crisp . then add a couple of different cheeses and toast it under the grill . the crisp honey side gives it a nice sweet flavour and the mix of cheeses ontop are yum :)

OK, I'm liking that thought I think. Noted.

If it's cheese on toast rather than a cheese toasty then the bread needs to be toasted on one side before the cheese is put on. Otherwise you get one soggy side!

Ah bloody hell! I go clean and someone posts a thread like this.

Cheese on toast is one of the simple pleasures of life that really can't be beaten.

Good thick white bread, pre toasted till the bread just starts to lightly brown, then butter and add mature dubliner or cornish cove cheddar, add some worcester sauce and let it melt and brown nicely under the grill.

Especially good after a night out.

i love a good cheese on toast. i don't have it often, but it's nice with a little bit of ketchup.

what i used to have on a sunday morning at work (when i was at asda) was black pudding & cheese on toast (cheese covering the black pudding. It's a taste sensation.

I'll often add all sorts of stuff (ham, tomato, mushrooms), so it almost becomes a pizza.

I do also love a frying pan cheese toastie.  Butter the bread on the wrong side, bit of fry light in a good non-stick pan and build your toastie.  Flip it over and you're done.  Not as greasy as you'd think and much better than a toasted sandwich maker.

White bread, grill one side, turn over and lavish grated cheese on top - a mix of strong red cheddar and some mozzarella - has to be grated though so that it melts nicely, none of this half assed slice stuff! The mix of the two cheeses creates a nice contracting look and magic taste! Couple of drops of Worcestershire sauce and away you go.

Found myself licking my lips at the though there! Nothing quite as emotive to the taste-buds as toasted cheese! (Well I call it roasted cheese but that's a different thread entirely!)

I know people feel very strongly about the worcestershire sauce thing but I really do think it spoils it. There, I said it.

It does because then it becomes cheese on toast with Worcestershire sauce.
