Cod liver oil

Hi

Im wanting to increase EFA's and know of the supposed good affects cod liver oil has for the body are the EFA's in cod liver oil the correct ones you guys talk about when you mention them or are there so many that you need to take them sourced from very different food sources.

I was going to take a capsule at mealtimes this would be on top of the tuna etc i eat.

any thoughts much appreciated.

i would think no more than 2 caps a day would do the trick - if you are eating well.

They will contain EPA and DHA which is what you are after.

Try and eat plenty of oily fish though because there will be less chance of the oils being rancid in the fish.

For EFA's cod liver oil is not the best oil supplement IMHO, and from the research I have done. In fact some experts regard Cod liver oil as being really not that good at all. Think about it - the liver of any animal is a filter for unwanted toxins, as well as other funtions. For a real example of this consider an alcoholics liver or even the hammer gear does to an unprotected liver - the liver bears most of the brunt of abuse..
The best sources of EFA's are flax seed oil, hemp oil and pumpkin oil. Whats more none of them tastes like a baboons arse (or should I say fish's arse). Any good health food shop should stock at least 1 of these oil. The whole seeds are also usually available too but you have to use a lot of them get get the same ammount of EFA's that the oil supplies.
