Convicted rapist back playing pro soccer

I have just seen this in the news. Anyone else seen it? If so what is your view on it? Should the guy be allowed to resume his career in the public eye or not?

I don't think he should be allowed back, a convicted rapist that's till in denial so he'll be classed as a high risk to women.

Would you really want to take your kids to a match he was playing at then having to deal with your kid asking what a rapist was.

I think it's a kick in the teeth to any women that have been raped that actually watch football, plus kids look up to these overpaid ball kickers.

I'm undecided, I mean if indeed he did rape the girl then no never, but I'm not totally convinced he did, but then you have to question how did a jury or judge come to the conclusion he did, because all I read was that they deemed the woman too incapacitated
to iniate sex, but not too incapacitated to go back to a hotel room with the guy in the first place, so I'm slightly suspicious.

If he didn't then he has suffered terribly, but then if he did all justice has been served and he shouldn't be allowed to play for any professional club IMO.

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.

I was unsure at first, I don't know if it was a jury who found him guilty or if it was a jury. for a jury to return a guilty verdict it's enough for me.

I know innocent people get sent down fairly often but I also know it's actually extremely difficult to secure a rape conviction

Had a read through that Welsh, if she says she couldn't remember anything then both guys should have been charged and convicted of rape.
If she was that drunk then she couldn't have consented, if her behaviour odd after what happened it could have been down to stress.
Maybe she thought she would or could make money off the back of her bad experience which is a mistake, I'm sure she did things afterwards that were frowned upon but people deal with things in different ways.

girl had a two-up and regretted it IMO, 1st guy gets let off, 2nd guy gets the wrap.
not the first time a girl has slept with a professional sportsman, regretted the gang bang and cried rape after.
he served his penance, why shouldn't life go on?

or is it the way these days where a prison sentence is not the end of your penance? should you be punished for the rest of your life for mistakes and crimes committed? (awaiting strawman argument where someone takes an extreme tangent of "are you saying serial killers should be forgiven blah blah")

Honestly I feel very little empathy for the girl as Aaron said gets wasted easily done, consents in state easily done then in the morning says actually I only consented for one not the other. Then destroys a guys life but not the other it just doesn't seem fair.

It seems like she took an easy way out imo. I am not condoning rape but honestly don't understand how he was convicted.

Anyways under his human rights I think that he has now served the time and should be allowed to play on. From a moral stand point I can see why sponsors etc are dropping the club and him but this will open up another MASSIVE can of worms and he will sue the right nut off everyone who blocks him playing imo.

If this was joe blogs who robbed a shop then couldn't get a job as a result it would be all over the press. Purely because this is an emptive issue and Feminism seems like the in trend this year its kicking up a fuss. He will most likely end up in the middle east or somewhere that views females as second class citizens to see out his time.

A convicted murderer is punished for the rest of their life, even once released from prison.

He may be well be innocent but he's been found guilty, if he gets his conviction overturned then I've no issue with it.

So no not blah blah, just pointing out the obvious. Your a little defensive, something your not telling us?

Me defensive? No not really. I am the first to demand beheading and flogging in matters of punishment where guilt is 100% assured but this case is just fishy as anything.

Firstly any girl that goes back to a hotel room with footballers  or just hangs out with them in general is pretty much guaranteed to be made air tight. They know it we know it.

Secondly lets put it into perspective here Murder is for ending a life, generally a much longer prison term and arguably more severe crime.

Thirdly when all is said and done and the lawsuits start flying for loss of earnings etc who do you think will pick up the bill? It will be the tax payers that he gets money from in the same way anyone who got done for hard time is effectively state sponsored for the rest of their lives which in this case could be 70+ years.

I think he should be allowed to play and I'm far from a fan of pro footballers. He's served his time and should be able to carry on his trade just like any other person. I also don't believe was quite as clear cut as it seems...I don't believe he was truly guilty of rape.

My concern with this case is that he has yet to admit guilt, yet he only served 1/2 the sentence.

Usually if a convict refuses responsibilty and the will to repent, they have to serve all or nearly all of the sentence.

This gives Football, which lets face it already has a dubious reputation for its attitude to ladies, an even more mysogynistic status.

I am a full believer in the rehabilation of offenders but there needs to be a display of remorse.

Would you show remorse for something you truly believe you didn't do?

How could their be remorse if you knew you never done anything wrong?

Sounds as if they were all to drunk to know what was going on or what they actually did, but clearly all knew what they were intending by getting drunk together in the first place and then heading to a hotel.

Bemuses me how the jury/judge came to their conclusions.

And I'm not saying right or wrong on both parties as one could well be correct, but given the level of alcohol clearly involved here I don't think this was right to even stand trial and should have been thrown out on lack of evidence.

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.

I reckon the club brought him back to train to gauge fan and funder reaction to it. I don't think he'll get re signed.

Of course he should play football, he`s only a convicted rapist. What with the violence, and deliberate (openly encouraged) cheating, he`s a perfect role moral for all those morons who spend fortunes watching the game.
