Could I get to COC#3?

Just been edumacating myself about grippers and I really fancy a go at doing these Captain of Crush things. Been looking round all the different poundages and I'm quite excited because I had my grip strength tested a couple of years ago on a dynamometer and I got 140lbs on my left hand and 160+lbs for my right, so it seems I could do COC#1 already and am only about 30lbs off COC#2 on my right, and this is without ever having trained grip.

Just wondered if anyone could post their progress with working their crushing strength to give me an idea of whether the COC#3 would be a realistic target for me one day and, if so, how long it might take me to get that good.

CoC wont map to hardly any other crushing I'm afraid. Especially the last few mm's are so dependent on your little finger strength that i don't know if any other kind of crushing training will test that accurately. Thats why I can crush so much more on Ivanko Supergripper than with the CoC's.

I intend to close #3 some year, that might be 5-6 years from now, but who's counting. I am only weeks rather than months away from closing #2, i'm so close i can taste it

The target is realistic if you set your mind to it.

i think what vegan is saying correct. its the last closing portion when the handles touch which is the whole meat and potatoes behind the CoC's. i can close no.2 and hold it touched but i havent even bothered to order no.3 as i know i dont think ill even get it started.

might get one of those rival ones mobster reviewed though as the poundage jumps on those seems more reasonable

yes, I never said they were exact measures and beared exact correlation, just a fun estimate, I also doubt Brookfield would write something that he knew was 'not even remotely accurate', but whatever

Only if you read comments from those who have already done it.

The marketing success of Ironmind has resulted to rapid rise in certifications - it still doesn't mean that it wouldn't be a big deal, otherwise you have to start saying that deadlifting 300kg is not a big deal just because there are a bundle of people in the world who can do it.

But I agree that closing #3 is not something only a few in the world can achieve.

I'll amend my 5-6 years to two years then shall I

I deadlifted 300kg for 5x5 yesterday. With one hand tied behind my back. With a 3" barbell. Light, easy weight.

It's not the same thing as deadlifting 300kg. Most people in the world, no matter how much they train or how hard they train, will never in their entire lives be able to deadlift 300kg. Or even if they do manage it, it would probably take ten years and some drug use.

Whereas an average guy off the street WILL be able to close the No.3 in two years given that same perfect training and hard work.

I disagree. The problem we have, you and I as members of the gripboard iks that we are surrounded - in grip terms - by pros. This gives us the illusion that with application all can achieve it.

Using another comparison if we were to get a degree at a good University and so did most of our fellow students then we'd think they are easy to get - yes? But surely the great and vast majority of people in education never do - perhaps just 10%.

I seem to recall that we did, myself included, class a CoC 3 as more world class but the 4 like a World Record level. In the same way that there are 100+ IFBB pros but only one Ronnie Coleman.

while we're on the subject, i ordered a coc gripper COUGHnumber1COUGH online on saturday, how long do you think it will take until it gets here?
You lads are always banging on about them, and its created a gapping void in my life that makes me feel empty. My life will only be complete again when my gripper arrives, just wondering when that will be.
    cheers!

After looking vwery carefully I managed to see through the smoke screen and noticed it was cough, cough only a CoC 1 he he. Seriously the reaosn why grippers etc are so much fun is they are very tactile and people love the challenge themselves. As soon as you get it (close it) you'll be getting buddies to 'come and have a go'.

Mobster, you've uncovered my dark secret and now i am shamed! For the crushing grip aspect of my grip work ive only had a shoddy golds gym gripper, and now i can close this 25+ times, so i cheekily thought id be adventurous and bypass the COC trainer, though i know the trainer would be twice as tough as my gold gym thing.
I hope if i cant close the #1 at first, with negatives and the like i should be able to do it fairly soon.
When the #1 becomes routine, i shall order #2 and donate my golds gym gripper to a local old peoples home.

Vegan, i did order from pullum, but that was saturday, and its now wednesday, still a no show! I just got ordinary delivery, not the next day £12 deal. I hope to have it by the weekend, fingers crossed.

To make an officially legal close of the COC, are you allowed to do that thing you do when being tested on a dynamometer i.e.hold it to the side then squeeze whilst lowering your hand to your side, or in fact any bodily movement to help you at all?

Or do you have to stay relatively still with your body while doing it?
