Cramp in feet

This isn't really connected with bodybuilding but my wife has asked me to inquire on the forum...
She gets terrible pain in both her feet when she goes swimming which causes her to stop completely. She can walk miles with no problems but as soon as she goes swimming she gets this cramp. Has anyone ever heard of this before?
She has seen her GP who just says it's rheumatoid arthritis, which she knows is not the case. Thanks.

Hydration, nutrition and stretching/warm up are usually the culprits (or lack of the fore mentioned).  It's really common, especially in the feet and lower leg.

Is she properly hyrdated?  How is her potassium levels (a banana pre training can help)?  She should also stretch and acclimatise to the water temperature by warming up in the pool.

Thank you mate.
I'll let my wife know what you have said here and hopefully these cramps will ease. She relies on swimming to keep her weight down but I think she may be joining the gym in the new year and the cardio machines should help her a lot. Cheers :)

Hydration, electrolytes, taurine, bloodflow and stretching would be the factors I would look at (not necessarily in that order).
