Creatine sides

After a few weeks of creatine monohydrate use I am struck down by crippling headaches every occuring almost every day. My fluid intake is high and so I do not believe this is the problem. Although creatine has a high half-life in the body, the headaches have subsided a few days after stopping creatine intake.

The creatine had been helping massively with my recovery rate and so I was reluctant to stop it. I am therefore considering other forms of creatine, eg ethyl ester. Will these other types of creatine have the same sides and can anyone recommend a particular creatine variant/product?

How high is your fluid intake? 3-4L/day seems to be what's recommended on creatine.

Also is there a common thread (other than the creatine) to the headaches? Other supps, lack of sleep, etc etc... anything else seem obvious?

I've seen a few threads lately about headaches on creatine, never had a problem with it myself. Maybe worth trying CEE but I'm not sure it would make a difference - by the time CEE reaches the bloodstream the ester has been removed and it's just plain mono.

The creatine is reflex, so decent stuff. I'm 25. My fluid intake is at least six litres ed.

never heard of that side, could be water retention causing high blood pressure, and in turn headache??

Just try CEE and see how you get on

My mate had the same problem - no matter how much water he drank daily he would have severe headaches which ceased as soon as he came off of creatine - strange
