Crufts

Who's been watching ? Mrs P was in tears last night because the German Shepherd won the 'Pastoral' class. She shows GSD's herself , we currently have two.She knew the guy who was handling the GSD and was familiar with the dog too.

There was a bit of grief a couple of years back regarding GSD's and Crufts / The Kennel Club so I think the fact that a GSD won it's class was especially emotional for people close to the breed.

I really liked the little Corgi looking thing that was in the class ( sorry I cant be more precise I was hammered last night) it wasn't a Corgi but it looked like one only darker.I also liked the Boxer than won the working dogs class and the enormous Mamuet (sp) huski looking thing was awesome.

Not a big fan of dog shows myself but we normally have a thread on here about it and I just thought I'd start one after reading the 'Why is It So Quiet On Here' thread'

I didn't even realise it was on.  I watch it sometimes and quite like it - I just go for the ones I most like the look of.

Plus there's always the added bonus of being able to sound like I'm a dog expert for a short while afterwards

I catch myself using dogging* jargon that I seem to have absorbed subliminally. I know far too much about something I dont really have an interest in!

    * I like to call it this for shock value. It's great fun telling the lads at work our lass is off dogging this weekend...

My mum and sisters are dog groomers and go every year, I couldnt think of anythiung more boring for me, personally even though I love dogs.

My sister just bought a Mini Schauzer puppy, to show groom when he's old enough

We went a few years ago, i both enjoyed it and felt saddened by the show at the same time.
I love dogs and mostly all breeds.
some great dogs to see, people to meet and displays etc.
Also saw what i think is an unpleasant side of dog show people, i thought many didnt appear to treat their animals particularly well.

would go again though just never seems to be convinent.

I like watching it as there are some cracking dogs on it but it pisses me off when those "toy" breeds win it. Why do Labradors, Alsatians, Rotweilers etc never get a look in?

Nice dog, I have a female one, quite small for a staffy too, so affection though arent they... shame they are overlooked often

thats one of the reasons probably, that fact that owners never seem to mention anything about the dog other than how strong, muscular etc it is, or to put it bluntly and you may not like this, "how ard" their dog is/looks, and thats ruined the image of the breed as far as dog shows and the general public are concerned
