Cutting at the moment! I've been doing circuits! Check it out!

i've been doing this circuit routine for a while now, just wanted to see what you guys think of it.

No rest between exercises.

Set 1, 2 min rest then set 2

10 pullups
25 bodyweight squats
20 med ball press ups (10 each side)
50 step-ups
30 moutain climbers
15-18 dips
10 bodyweight rows
40 back to back medicine ball passes
30 medicine ball throws (8 ft apart)
1 min swiss ball plank.

Seems to be working fairly well.

Another thing is i have recently started doing this.

Mon morning 30mins cardio
Mon eve (circuits)

Wed morning 30mins cardio
Wed eve (circuits)

Fri morning 30mins cardio
Fri eve (circuits)

Is it better to train like 3 days a week twice a day, or would it be better to train 5 days a week instead and do the circuits on tue and thur.

All comments welcome.

Cheers

more than likely and they will be based around:

    weights
    cardio
    diet

your plans are poor, they will not give the best body composition and you are liable to over train

what else do you need to know?

    articles below
sample plans at the top of this section

As TT has said mate, you will probably end up very lean with a little bit of muscle by doing this, if that is your goal then by all means crack on, but if you want to have some size to you this is the wrong direction to be looking... so what exactly are your goals???

I like to train using my bodyweight and my main goal at the moment is to get myself
to a descent level of fitness while maintaining the muscle i already have.

Im starting boxing at the end of july so i thought i would get a head start.

But i have found like you said jabybebus, while i have been doing
this workout and maintaining a strict cutting diet the weight is starting to shed off.

Another thing is i have started training with my brother who is 32 and weighs 14 stone, he is about 5'11 and looking to get down to about 12 stone so i thought this plan might help him as well.

    cheers

crack on then but the muscle mass you will have as a result of calisthenics (dips/chins being the possible exceptions) in terms of size and strength will be minimal to that of structured weight training

doing work to help your bro is one thing, but you will get minimal strength or muscular gains from doing your proposed routine, and id dare to say you will probably lose strength because your not lifting any real weight, if your interested in doing bodyweight manouvres then thats your choice but when your ready for some size and strength, go to the routine sections at the top and pick yourself one

i understand what you are saying. I have followed weight routines in the past and don't get me wrong i love weights without a doubt, but after damaging my lower back doing stiff legged deadlifts i have never really been a big fan of getting back into instense heavy weights. What about if i i just did this routine once a week and started doing doing a two day weight split. mon night weights, weds night weights, friday circuits. plus 2-3 sessions of cardio.

I used to do Franki Ny training program, which i didn't find to bad and definetly got stronger from it.

if and when ya get an injury its most often from poor form so whenever ifeel awkward with a movement i just skip it and move on, and look it up when i get home, but yes, starting with a 2 day split is a start, and you can still do your routine if you want but it will most likely negatively effect your recovery time.

if he is 5 10 and 70kg then he is small
if he is 85-90kg at the same weight he is significantly more musclar

the latter will not be produced by the majoirty when employing calisthenics period
    esepecially when hypocaloric

that picture means little without stats and previous training history

i can post pics of me looking like that - and say "i do 20 press ups a day and fcuk all more"

what i have failed to tell you is i have been doing that for 2 weeks and spent the last X amount of years doing structured weight training and eating to grow

Yeah I think thats quite interesting actually. I'm in agreement with you. The site blurb uses fancy language to make his approach seem unconventional, and it does compared to things I have read, primarily on MT. But it seems obvious that the key to his physique is a structured weights plan and diet. His site promotes high intensity training but it doesn't say anywhere explicitly that this is solely how he achieved his own physique.

But what I was really getting at is that I don't think hes "an overtrained 'healthy' male" but neither do I think he has the "best looking physique in terms of size and cuts". He looks like a functional and conditioned healthy male, not anything more and certainly nothing less.

    Sorry for the o/t.

Circuit training doesnt appear to be an effective method of training from what I read here. Listen to the members that you can tell are experienced and knowledgeable, and change to suit. It'll pay off.

look at the hype surrounding the guys from the film 300

if they were huge and ripped why arent BBers training like them?

    reason

    they are not huge
they look big for a couple of days a year on screen (not in reality)
thats not the only training they have done to get the 'mass' they have

if people think you get 'muscle mass' by hypocaloric diets and callisthenics, then crack on

i personally and profesionally would never touch it

What about using a circuit routine like this in place of cardio? I currently do a circuits class once a week as a cardio/weight loss session and to build my fitness which is poor. Is this going to have a negative effect on gaining muscle?

What about this routine then with maybe a couple of sessions of cardio in it. maybe 1 circuit.

    http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/m_27107/tm.htm

I still have major issues with squatting such as back problems and tight hamstring, so what if i was to substitute the single legged press instead???

Also will this be sufficient for a cut?

    cheers
