DAG = diacylglycerol
Normal fats = TAG - triacylglycerol
So basically its a fatty acid with one less carbon chain
I've only read small amounts about DAG, but the crux was that because of the way your body broke it down, it was more likely to be used for energy than storage than TAG. Also some differences in blood levels of triglycerides for diabetics (though that was a given really!) which may be useful for some.
Unfortunately there were no obvious sources that I could find that wouldn't have had the **** kicked out of them in a chemistry experiment, so I put them in the same boat as artificial MCTs - in theory great, but in practise, I'd rather avoid deliberately adding to my diet in large quantities.
lol, just had a quick search for Enova (the research was done on this IIRC) - http://www.enovaoil.com/
- I'm guessing there's a reason they aren't about anymore !
