Day 2 of Frankies Mass routine

Hi I have recently adopted Frankies routine to try and get some gains. Today I done day 2. Chest/Delts/Tri,s

I completed
Flat press - 6x20kg 6x25kg 6x30kg 6x32kg
Shoulder Press - 6x15kg 6x20kg 6x25kg 6x27.5kg
Close Grip - 6x40kg 6x50kg 6x60kg 6x65kg

Even though I was down on my close grip bench press I seemed to do ok. The only problem is that my Tris dont feel as pumped as what they normally do? Because I cant feel anything does this mean that I havnt trained them to their potential.

My tris usually come away solid after a good workout. I am confused.

Why do you need to feel a pump in your tri's? just coz they feel pumped doesn't mean they will grow any better. Doing flat press, shoulder press and close grip bench will hammer your triceps plenty and your be lifting more weight with them using these compound moves than if you were doing isolation movements. You could try doing bench dips to replace close grip press as you already have two other pressing movements.

Why are you pyramiding the weight up? if you are using frankies routine? this routine is based around 5x5 or 4x6 with the SAME weight.

    With the same weight!!!!!

Firstly I need to warm up. And I could not lift my maximum for 4x6 reps.

I would have to lift much lighter then

    yes, with the same weight

do one or two warm up sets with a lower weight and then in to the 4x6 or 5x5!!

if you feel this is too much then do maybe 2 warmup sets at a lighter weight and then 3 worksets at a heavier weight. Keep the SAME weight for ALL 3 worksets so you are close to failure on the last rep of the final set

So I take it that once you can perform 4x6 of the desired weight then you move up. I must say that even what I done yesterday has now had some effect. I am feeling pretty pumped etc may have taken a day for the muscles to react.

Ok I will aim for 3 working sets at my maximum next time.

My problem is thought I canont jump up weights. I have to ease myself up to them.

For example if I pressed 10x15kg and then went to 30kg I would probably fail on 3reps of 30kg. But if I went 10x15kg 6x20kg 6x25kg 6x30kg 6x30kg 6x30kg I would porbably be alrite. I just cannot jump up weights. I have to work my way up the stack.

If doing 4x6 two warm-up sets of roughly 60% then 80% of your 1RM of 6 reps each. Then into your working sets which should all be the same weight.

Ok if you cant do 30kg start simply use a lesser weight for the working sets.

If you can do 4x6 with that weight increase the weight by 2.5/5lbs the next week. Sorted.
