Deadlift Progress

I haven't been doing DLs that long.. (about 3 months) and yet I have seen quite a bit of progress in terms of the weight I can lift, (as you would expect with any new exersize). What I'm interested to know is how have you all progressed with DLs..

How long have you been doing DLs ?
What weight did you start with ?
What weight can you do now?
How tall are you and what do you weigh ? (this is important to put absolute weights in to perspective.)

What I'm interested to see is how all of your lifts have progresed over time.. say you've been doing DLs for a year.. if you were to split the year up in to quarters .. how does your lifting progress look over each each quater? Are you seeing diminishing returns in your DL progress?

    #1-about 1 year
#2-about les than bodyweight [cannot remember exactly, but it was embarrasingly low]
#3-the last time i went for a 1RM was in oct, did 142.5kg, could def of gone heavier if did less work sets, and could def do more now.
    #4-at a guess 5'7-9" not too sure and 150lbs, v.low bf/weight ratio, sub 8%.
and #5-1st quater: not much progress mainly workingon form, 2nd,3rd+4th some weeks as much as 10kg on previous week to start, now about 2-5kg/week/fortnight. it varies with my job and diet.

best of luck and keep 'em up, imo they are the 3rd best exersize period for any goals.

    #1 about a year and 2 months
#2 very little, everyone at the gym thought that DL's will automatically kill your back, so i was very, very cautious. Probably did something like 50-60kg's tp start with
    #3 175kg
    #4 185cm, which is 6-6'1 i guess and weigh 98kg/215 lbs
#5 when i first started maxing out i did 115kg as far as i remember, the progression during first quarter was minimal, i was doing flex style waste-of-time routines. I lifted 150kg in the summer, so 25kg progression in 6 months, not really a good one considering i'm a relative beginner.

i'm going to improve my deadlift with about 50kg during this year.

    1. been deadlifting since end of sept 2003
    2. olympic bar. it wasn't exactly heavy for me but found my knees kept bashing against the bar and it felt really uncomfortable.
    3. last time i tried was 21st dec, got 110kg.
    4. about 5'2" and 60kg.

at first progress was slow because my form wasn't so great. weights have gone up really quickly - nearly twice my bodyweight in 2 months. its my favourite lift now :)

    1. 1.5 yrs...didnt always include them in my routine cause bad form hurt my back.
    2. not sure..maybe 225lbs?
    3. 365 lbs max..its probably dropped since i havent trained this christmas
    4. 145 lbs bodyweight. 5'6''

my dl's have had no progress in the past year or so because i dont train them often...all the weight came last summer (1.5 years ago) on tony starks routine and a bit after that. i am averse to leg mass though.

Deadlifting for 8 months, started with 55KG, now doing about 110KG. I'm 6ft 5 ins tall and weigh 88KG. I am having trouble because of my long limbs and have been stuck between 95 and 110KG for about 4 months at least. I'm hoping I just don't have the wrong leverages for it, but I'm determined to find out by trying hard.

    Thanks for the replys guys..

Personally I started off with around 50kg.. which was light(ish) but I was worried about go too heavy too soon.. I could manage about 70-80kg but wasn't sure about my form. My current pb is 120kg for 3 reps.. but I'm sticking with 105 for 5x5 at the moment. I occasionally try doing a couple of heavy reps... but can't seem to get over 115/120kg.. which doesn't seem that much over what I can rep comfortably (relatively speaking). I feel that at my weight I should be able to do better .. I guess I'm just being too impatient.. as I never really used to do any "strength" training before six months ago. Maybe falling in to the trap of trying to increase to quickly.. that's why I've decided to stick with 105/110kg for 5x5 just trying to increase it by 2.5kg once each session.

cant remeber what weight i used when i first started, probably too much with bad form.

However i havent done deads for 12 weeks (hurt my back) and have just started back on them. Managed 150kg for 4 sets of 4. I could go heavier with wrist straps but i think thats how i injured myself so i'm just going to lift what my grip will allow

Will get 180kg by summer, easy!
