Desperately want to loose my cellulite

Dear all,

I am a 24 years old girl, 45kg, 5ft 3'' and have bad cellulite. I have no fat in any other areas. My arms are painfully thin. What I want to do is loose the cellulite, get bigger arms and shoulders but don't loose any meat from my breasts. I have been going to the gym for a year, have not been there for the last 6 months. When I was going to the gym (4 times a week), I was cycling for 20 minutes and then did weights. The result was that I lost weight and my arms have gone smaller but my cellulite remained! I eat healthy, I avoid fatty food and sugar. I don't drink coffee, tea or alcohol and I don't smoke.

I have read the posts on what causes cellulite but I was wondering on what I can do to loose my cellulite and get bigger arms and shoulders. Could anyone suggest a programme that I can follow? I have seen the need a routine threads but was wondering if there was something I could do more tailored to my needs.

    Hi kellycel and welcome - sorry none of the gilrs have helped with your thread - after the other heated one I guess theyd rather not! I assume youve read the one below?

    I think the best bet is for you to do high levels of aerobic exercise to try to burn off the fat where your cellulite lies. Whilst at the same time (well not exactly the same time, but you know what I mean ) do some heavy weight training for your torso. Im not the best peron to give you a routine TBH so Im hoping one of the girls will........

    As for nutrition I would follow something along the lines of a bodybuilder who wants to gain muscle and reduce fat, ie small regular carb portions at meals, and large protein regularly, plenty of fruit and veg and fluid.

    Sorry, i didnt even see this post....

    Firstly you can be skinny, but still have high bodyfat, if you know what I mean, so you can still have cellulite. Also, you can have low bodyfat and STILL have cellulite. Its just one of those things. Are you on the Pill?

    You can DEFINITLY get bigger arms and shoulders from doing weights. You need to push yourself though, not just pick some baby weights and swing them around a bit. And keep at it. I had skinny arms with the elbow being the fattest part. Now i have big arms that scare men LOL. But it takes time.

    I wouldn't do too much aeorobics as you will lose the muscle you are gaining. You are very light. I think the cellulite will be helped just by toning up all over and changing body compostion.

    How often are you able to get into the gym? Then we can look at programmes....but I dont think there is a specific cellulite-reducing routine whatever the magazines say!

    Thanks for your replies. Much appreciated.

    Answering your questions, I am not on the pill and have never been on it.
    I can go to the gym 3 times a week. I will try to go 4 times a week, but I would prefer to have a programme for 3 times a week, which I know I will follow.

    I look forward to whatever recommendation you have for a programme.

    Why dont u try this some gal i knows doin this to gain muscle an lose fat wid good results
    monday
    leg press, leg extension, lunge,standing calf raise, leg raise

    wednesday
    bench press, close grip bench press,dumbell biceps curl

    Friday
    pullup,pulley row, triceps pushdown, crunches on swiss ball, hyper extension

    4 every exercise u'll do 3 sets with 8-12 reps and cardio on tues and thursday wateva form of cardio eg 45 mins skipping, jogging, cyling etc on an empty stomach.

    I agree, I'd also stick some shoulder presses in on the friday seeing as you want to increase shoulders size, and some flat bench flyes on the wednesday

    Hi all,

    Could you explain to me what hyper extension is?

    Also how many kgs should I use when I exercise my legs? I was under the impression that because I want to loose my cellulite I should not use a lot of kgs because that way I would make my legs bigger.

    I assume that for my arm exercises I should use a lot of kgs so my arms can become bigger.

    You also say 8-12 reps per exercise. Now say I am doing a certain exercise and I am managing 8 on all 3 sets, should I up the weight next session or wait until I am able to finish 12 reps on each set?

    Moreover, I am fairly big breasted due to genetics and I am worried that by doing the chest exercises this will make my breasts smaller. Is this correct or will it make them bigger?

    Finally regarding nutrition, I am watching what I eat, I love salads, I eat a piece of fruit and a glass or two of skimmed milk every day. I avoid high fat food. Usually on Saturdays for lunch I have a tomato and mascarpone pizza. Should I avoid it? Every now and again I have low fat chocolate mousses, are these ok?
    My question would be how often can I have a bit of the forbidden food?

    aight 1st of all, an hyper extension is where u lay on yor stomach, put yer hands behind ur head then try an lift ur upper body, try an do 3 sets of 15 reps. as for the weights do warm up sets then after that use a weight where u fail within the 8 -12 reps and try an increase ur weights slowly like say 1 kg or 2 reps every session.as for exercises reducing ur breast size as far as i know, exercises will probz stops ur breasts from being saggy and more firm (god this is hard to explain widout soundin dodgy)so yes u might have smaller but more firm beasts.As for the food try an eat high protein, moderate carb, and low fat meals and try an have a salad every meal, all fat free stuff check the sugar content as well which can pile on the pounds, as for the "forbidden food" set a cheat day where u eat the little things u couldnt have during the week, but eat in moderation. well hope that helps if not say so.

    Could someone clarify for me whether:

    - I should use really heavy weights when I exercise my legs and do 8-12 reps or
    - use light weights and do a lot of reps (20-25 reps)?

    I was under the impression that because I want to loose my cellulite I should use light weights but do a lot of reps instead of using heavy weights and doing less reps?
    Which one is correct?

    do 8-12 reps with a moderately heavy weight where in the last set u'll find it quite difficult to complete it

    I agree with ice mach, there's no point in doing thousands of low weight reps. Don't worry about getting big legs, its actually very hard to put on huge amounts of muscle! (Don't we know it!!)

    Re: breasts - if you have a genetically big chest when the rest of you is skinny, then you are just a lucky cow and I hate you!!! (that's a joke!!!)
    But it could be an indicator that you have a lot of oestrogen, and hence the cellulite, although of course the debate about what causes cellulite is a contentious one....so we wont go there!!

    But...no, doing chest exercises WON'T make you lose your breasts. Loosing a lot of body fat will. Just building up your chest will make them firmer, as icemach said.

    On the food....don't panic so much about low fat everythng..because most of that kind of food has little nutritional value and doesnt re-educate your habits. Just get a balance for now with plenty of protein to help your muscles recover, and some carbs from fruit and veg. Seeing as you are not going for competiton shape a little 'bad' stuff now and then won't do much harm, maybe have a low fat dessert if you feel the need and a once a week 'bad' meal wont upset things that much.

    PS thanks for the compliment!! Unfortunately I have had to say bye-bye breasts in order to get my bodyfat down! (I am not genetically endowed boo hoo!) I also have/had a small amount of cellulite even so, although it seems to finally be going. I am using a product called lipoderm-y but I don't know how much is due to that, and how much from coming off the Pill and sheer hard work!

    Hi all,

    I am starting the training today!!
    Since I will be going to the gym 3 times a week, is it ok to do the cardio those days, after I've done my weight lifting?

    Realistically, when do you think I will see some results on my arms and on my cellulite?

    Gymbabeliz, I have used a million of different creams for cellulite but have not seen a result :( I will try yours though. Thanks.

    Hi,

    Try dry skin brushing before you shower. This is supposed to stimulate the lymph flow and improve the circulation. If done correctly it is supposed to give the skin a more taut look! It's good for getting rid of dead skin cells and makes your skin feel much sofer. Must be done with a natural brush though and in the direction of the blood flowing to the heart.

    Kitty i dont think any of the creams work at all. Lipoderm is yohimbine which supposedly stimulates some receptors or other into giving up the stubborn fat...I got it from 1fast, here's the link with the more technical info!!

    However I would only bother with this once you have everythng else right - diet, cardio etc, its more to lose the very last bits and you need to be in calorie deficit for the yohimbe to be effective.
