Did everyone enjoy the GP?

Hi all,

I wanted to post something about the Expo and Comp and see what people's genuine feedback was. I went down on Sat and Sun and found the UKBFF comps brilliant. However, the expo could have been much better.

Thoughts on this? I'm trying to give quality feedback, not cause any issue on this brilliant forum :)

Thanks,
J

    Hi
Thanks for your feedback: we need this for next year.  In what way do you feel the expo could have been improved?
We ensured the best quality events and the strongman, arm wrestling, MMA, Team Extreme and World Gym Challange delivered.  However, we can't make companies exhibit and we can't control their stands, but, even still, some companies did have excellent stands.

One thing i have learnt from being involved in some way in the expo's over the last 3 years in the UK, the 1st year is always the benchmark to improve upon.

As James has stated, you can't make companies put a stand in the expo hall but as the feedback rolls in from the fans feedback and they see how much of a success it was (all be it in small begingings), they will want to be a part of it the next year.

I predict a larger expo next year with more companies wanting to be part of the BGP weekend

    Hi James

A bit of feedback for what it's worth. If your doing a similar time as this year, we have FIBO in April and Bodypower in may and the BGP expo in march. That's three consecutive months of brands applying large portions of resources, time and money. It would certainly be a point I would have to consider an maybe other brands too.

    Just a thought!

I missed pre judging and lost £70 I was ill so bad :(

I went EXPO and last 4 - 5 hours and that on its own was worth the total of £120, few seminars, just seeing the pros wander about (no pics with any stars) couldnt be bothered due to being rough, but a pic with Jamie Eason and her saying i looked amazing (made my day couldnt careless if she said that to everyone else LOL )

I wish I could have meet few members of the MT crowd but hey we have plenty years of this show to go

I thought it was a great success and when I got in I followed the Live report and say what a great job the guys did on that, consideriing I paid for the show tickets LOL

    Thanks

    Hi,

Feedback: this may not work but an idea all the same.
On saturday i wanted to watch the Strongman and my friend was Powerlifting at the same time.
Both great events but watching one meant you missed the other.
Also, i felt (maybe due to lack of interest) but the powerlifting boys were so great setting World Records etc but no-one really knew it was going on. There were only a handful of us watching when Chris Jenkins set a squat World Record and Kyle Young set a Benching British Record etc.
It would be a good idea if there was announcements when big things were about to happen.

And next year. MT'ers have to set a time to meet at the stand!! - i missed meeting so many of you....

Ooooer, just what I was thinking, suggestions for next time

I did initially wonder why BMX would be at such an Expo but I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to see that return as much as they made my palms sweat watching them

It was the BMXing that got me thinking about other stuff to include and having seen some free runners on TV tonight I think that would be a fabulous edition. They can set up an indoor 'assault' course that could easily be built.

Much to the approval of most males, I think pole dancing would go down VERY well. Having seen youtube clips of the international comps these women have a fabulous skill that goes way beyond the sleazy image.

Many years ago there used to be aerobic comps (single and groups) on TV, these were really exhilarating and could make a fabulous side show.

Hubbie has just suggested a bucking bronco

I absolutely loved the young body popper (Hayden) at the finals of the GP. Having seen him on TV it looked so much better live. Maybe look at getting a dance troup in for street dance/body popping etc (Louie Spence please )

The timing was done on purpose and it will stay 2 weeks after the Arnold.  This encourages both pro and top amateur competitors to compete in two of the main events.

This has already come up and you raise a very valid point.  Next year I want an events manager in the team to organise the expo events only - timings, music, location, etc.
We were let down majorly with the powerlifting and Chris stepped in to save us - this is why there wasn't much publicity.

Already been considered long before the show! We have BIG plans for the future and BMX/skateboarding were just a taster of what's to come. Watch this space over the next 2 years!

Much to the approval of most males, I think pole dancing would go down VERY well. Having seen youtube clips of the international comps these women have a fabulous skill that goes way beyond the sleazy image.

Again, we'd already considered this and I did look into it.  However, cost and floor space didn't allow it in this year.

Many years ago there used to be aerobic comps (single and groups) on TV, these were really exhilarating and could make a fabulous side show.

    Good idea!

Believe it or not, we already looked into this for year 1, but cost, etc again

I absolutely loved the young body popper (Hayden) at the finals of the GP. Having seen him on TV it looked so much better live. Maybe look at getting a dance troup in for street dance/body popping etc (Louie Spence please )

    Again,...

    etc
(at least you came up with one new idea!)
