Diet Advise Please Help Newbie

Hi, firstly excellent forum, i've been looking at it for the last couple of months reading through everything and picking up some excellent tips, i have already drastically changed my routine based on the advise you all have given others.

I have been trying to sort out my diet, i have looked through the diet section and have taken a recommended diet and modified it abit for personal reasons removing the foods i dont like i.e sadly i cant stand fish or vegetables except potatoes.

i'd be extremely gratefull if you could cast your experienced eyes over it and give me an idea if im somewhere along the right lines, i am 24, 90KG and train 3 times a week, i've been training on and off for around 12 months, only really training seriously again for the past three months after discovering this site and sorting my self out and deciding whether i was going to commit to proper training or just carry on training half heartedly, thankfully for me i decided 3 months ago that i was serious about training and have not looked back since.

I have highlighted the foods i dont like in the diet below which i got from your recommendations;

Time Food Approx Protein Calories
0500 branded whey in milk 20g 40g 550
100g of oats
5 egg whites and one yolk fried
Apple

1000 Weight Gainer Shake: 45g 550
150ml skimmed milk
200ml water
40g peanut butter
30g whey
20g oats
Half banana (the greener the better)

Train 1100 hrs

1300 branded whey in milk 40g 35g 350

Creatine or CEE
5g of L-glutamine

1600 150g lean beef or 150g chicken 35g 450
Wholemeal pitta bread with reduced-fat mayonnaise
onions & lettuce
or wholegrain bread sandwich
Apple and Satsuma

1700 Weight Gainer Shake: 45g 550
150ml skimmed milk
200ml water
40g peanut butter
30g whey
20g oats
Half banana (the greener the better)

19:00 Basmati rice or pasta 75g 30g 550
Chicken breast 150g or 150g of lean red beef mince
Mackerel strips 30g or 50g of olives or olive oil on the salad
Selection of veg (to approx 100 kcal)

21:30 whey in water 35g 35g 350
Udos oil 25ml
Or quark/cottage cheese (250g) and olives or nuts
Total: 265g 3350 kcal

I have left out the 25g dextrose and 25g maltodextrin because to be frank i dont now what the second one is, and dont currently have any dextrose but will be ordering it in the near future if you reccomend it, could you kindly educate me re maltodextrin.

Also im not sure what Udos oil is if you could kindly teach me about that aswell.

This post may drag on forever but other diet questions i have is days a fortnight i work nights 2100 x 0700 generally sleep until 1200 hours prior to the first night shift and all day prior to the second, how would you reccomend moving the times above to suit, should i start it from 2100 hours the first day or from 1200 hours and only eat half way into the night shift?

Also at the mo i am using a braded (whose name i dont think we mention on this forum) protein formula which i bought in my ignorance from ebay before i discovered this forum. i have quite a bit left, i will change it to a myp whey when it's all gone and take it with water insted, i have tried my current one with water, its strawberry flavoured well lets just say its afine line between the time it took to go down to the time it almost took to come back up!!.

Sorry for the lengthy post.

PS Toxic Toffe, read your "THE HARD LEARNER" post, how true it is, exactly how i would have been 3 months ago, how hindsight is such a wonderfull thing, all those wasted months and ££.

PPS sorry, my goal is bulking,

PPPS can egg whites and egg yolk be substituted for liquid egg whites or is this really a no no.

Leave the milk from the whey you have right after you train. Try and mix the whey with 3 weetabix if you dont want to have dextrose and maltodextrin.

Move the 16.00 meal to within 90 minutes of your workout.

Do you really train for 2 hours? The PWO meal must be consumed as soon as you can after you train. In your diet its consumed 2 hours after you commence training.

Udos oil is just an oil which contains Omega 3 and Omega 6. You can get these from real food if you want. Im sure one of the guys on here will post up the list of foods as i cant find it

On the whole, the diet looks very good

    Thanks for your reply

luckily a diet example was already on the forum for a 200lb male, which is my weight give or take a lb, so i have been able to modify it a bit to suit me.

I train for around an hour, my gym has an excellent hydrotheropy pool and sauna, steam room which i use for about an hour give or take, hence the 2 hours time slot.

Would there be any negative effects if i were to finish training then have the shake, then go in the steam room etc, ie from the heat.

Also what are your thoughts on the sauna, steam room, hydrotheropy pool, (its not a swimming pool just a jaquzi type). would i sweat out the weight i gain from bulking??

I also forgot to mention that i take multi vitamins and minerals and also cod liver oil tablets with omega 3 oil, are they any good or should i look for other sources.

Thanks Again any help is much appreciated.

    Sorry forgot to ask,

if i mix whey with 3 weetabix, would i eat the weetabix like normal ie in a bowl of milk but mush them up and stir in the whey??

    Thanks for that,

feel stupid asking this but is the weight gain shake in my diet post above a diy one made of the below ingredients

    150ml skimmed milk
    200ml water
    40g peanut butter
    30g whey
    20g oats
    1/2 bannana

all mixed together or should I be eating / drinking the ingredients and a weight gain shake which I buy.

Just realised that i had assumed that it was a list of ingredients for a shake but am not actually sure.

Whatever floats your boat, I only ever eat Weetabix dry, though thats not for everyone!

Finish training, have your shake, and then stop kidding yourself that you're there to relax and you're really there to check out the women!!

You potentially risk further DOMS from jumping straight into the sauna from weights, I'd cool off (cold shower/plunge pool) for 10 mins beforehand.

THe only thing you'll sweat out is more water and electrolytes, so make sure you drink plenty of water PWO and if you sweat a lot, a little bit of isotonic can't hurt.

Preston! THe hydro pool is nice, but its an absolute sausage-fest. Everytime the female changing room door opens, every blokes neck extends about a foot to look and see if its a fit girl or not

    PWO ice-cream anyone?
