Dips With Horizontal Bar

Hi,

Is there anything wrong with doing dips using a horizontal bar rather than 2 parrallel bars as the majority of videos I have seen how people doing it with parrallel bars but I don't have access to these?

Many thanks
Dan :)

    Hi There,

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking something like this one that will work my chest:

Is this way ok as apart from this video every other clip I have seen they are using parrallel bars?

    Cheers,
    Dan :)

Ah ok, is it ok though to do dips with a bar just going straight accross so your hands are facing forwards?

    Cheers,

Sorry mate I'll try and explain it a bit better. I am wanting to do the Chad Waterbury ABBH program but as I train at home I don't have a dipping station. I have a chinup bar that can be adjusted to any height but it is only a straight bar, no parrallel bars coming off it that can be used for dips so I was wondering if it was possible to perform dips with my hands in front of me horizontally on the bar (oblique grip?) as apose to the grip being a parrallel with your hands at your side and thumbs facing forwards?. If not what would be the best exercise to replace the dips with in the program as that is the only one I am going to have problems with.

    Cheers,
    Dan :)

you can't do those dips with 1 straight bar.

    not familiar with the program.

post your routine in a new thread to get help.

The guy is using two parallel bars in that .gif image. It just looks like he's doing dips on one bar.

Lead guitarist and vocals of a one man band...

Just had another look and I can see he's using parallel now, at first glimpse I thought he was just using a straight bar. Time to find another exercise then.

    Thanks for the help
