Do You Earn The Average National Wage?.

The latest figures i could find according to the Office Of National Statistics is £457.And that was up to the end of April 2007.Allowing an inflation increase of around 3%,lets call it about £470 before tax.

My basic before tax is £382 for a 40 hour week.I have to do overtime to afford lifes luxurys like holidays etc..This is achieved by working overtime on weekends.

I work in a warehouse by the way.

I take it that`s per week Galenkia ? I get well below that by the time I`ve paid out the CSA.

Love to know how they actually work that out because if I`m honest I don`t actually know that many people in standard employment who get over £450 per week.

Isn't that the houshold income figure?

For some reason I remember reading national average household income was 457 for the week, and 650 for london.

Can someone confirm if I'm right / wrong or if the above figures are correct?

I earn a mystery amount - I have no idea what my present income is.

The average wage can't be 457.

Here's the UK's average household income:

    http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=334

As you'll see by the 2 bars at the end, pre-tax *household* income in the UK is less than 30,000 (or about 1900 after tax per month).

the 457 figure *is* household income - what you, your wife, and whoever else in the family earns. this figure sounds high because most middle class families are now duel-income families.

Edit: After point above, I am now confused lol.

    Weird.

Why's household income lower than the average wage?

Edit: So gross average wage is 25k per yr? and top 10% is 47k per yr before tax?

    That sounds pretty believable.

You forgot to add that you live in Scotland mate. You could add a fair old % increase to that amount if we were talking the equivalent wage and living standards in London.
