Do you ever just feel like eating crap?

I'm struggling bad right now. I need to eat crap. I have a deep desire to eat crisps and cake. I can't though because I'm trying to stay in shape. Help me to fight through this please! I can't do it alone!

    If you want to eat less nutritious higher calorie food then just drop some of your calories from else where.

    It's not ideal but will mean you can maintain 'shape'.

    I eat some 'junk' everyday.

    Body Weight - 83kg 
    Bench - 145kg
    Squat - 190kg
    Clean & Jerk - 129kg
    Snatch - 98kg

    My urges are always at night, which is handy because I always say to myself that instead of overindulging (at this point where the urges are knocking I don't really have much legroom with calories because I've already consumed the majority if not all) I will just go to bed and have a treat in the morning. When the morning comes I'm as motivated as ever and the cravings have gone. For 7-8 hours, at least.
     
    Rinse and repeat.

    Just eat some crap and be ultra under after, or under before hand (cals). It makes no difference if you normally get all the essential amino acids/fats vits etc and are eating the right amount of cals most of the time if you have a cheat meal. So if this is normal for you go on a fast all day say sat and eat what ever in the evening, add up the cals, prob the same. Crap food has the same laws of physics applied to them as healthy food, i.e energy. Work it out or go by instinct. Stuffing your face when intended could be considered healthy.

    Yeah Welsh, my urges come at night also. I have 12 minutes to go before the Tesco Metro down the street closes and I won't have access to crap. Then I'll be safe as there's nowhere else open for miles.
     
    I just know that they have rows of reduced price jam donuts just sitting there. How I would love to have those lovely sweet sugary balls of deep fried dough with some salted crisps on the side.

    Honestly is a bag of crisps going to be that damaging ?
    One bag won't but problem i have is it kinda opens the flood gates lol
    If i stay on track im on, one bag would probably end in a crap food orgy.

    I've been having really good progress since April / may time and eating well has been quite easy. I do have very relaxed weekends though and find that helps me stay on track through the week, don't get me wrong i don't go mental but i do have a take away, fry up, bottle of wine sort of stuff and it seems to reset the craving clock for another week.
    I might progress faster not going this but its enabled me to keep going, and im losing fat week in week out.

    I can go for weeks being very strict with my diet, but one slip and i am doomed as i will then gorge myself silly on sugary crap and can literally go through 3-4 days calories within a couple of hours.
     
    One reason why i can't get rid of this slight paunch i have.

    I can get sugar cravings if I am mega tired or have been training too hatd which usually is combined with a loss of interest for training (only had this a few times)
     
    Sometimes when training hard my dinner just doesn't fill me up so then I'll eat whatever I can get, good and bad stuff. I feel when this happens though my body is needing it so don't think it's too bad.
     
    If you are getting consistant sugar cravings in the afternoon / evening ans also a lack of energy or bad mood then your diet throughout the rest of the day needs looking at and the effect it has on serotonin levels. As serotonin levels drop the craving for carbs increases and it is more common in people on low carb diets.

    If you're eating for the sake of eating (i.e. just fancy something) then that's your mind playing tricks on you, if you're honestly listening to your body and it's craving something then go for it, can't see a prob with that, it'll make you feel better and you shouldn't feel guilty, prolly train better too.

    Every now and then its ok to have that bar of chocolate or packet of crisps. If it will open the floodgates then dont buy them so you can't be tempted,  or buy some healthier alternatives, sugar free jelly or make a sweet protein snack, theres plenty of simple recipes online. For me personally if I have too much junk food it will put me off it completely for a while which is good, but I think if you indulge every now and then with a little treat its good for the body and mind.

    Are you currently low on carbs? If hitting a deficit make sure it aint too low or the cravings will go insane. Well for me anyway. When's your hungriest time of the day? Maybe have the majority of your carbs then. If I get bad cravings to do try and eat more nutritious carbs (potatoe etc) before chocolate etc. Plenty of times the urge will go that way.
    Also don't have it in the house. I'm sure we've all had evenings that if it was in the house we've have eaten it.
    But allow one day a week to indulge.
