Do you have training rituals

I don't mean human sacrifice lol, but was thinking even now I prepare for a heavy set by a little routine of controlled breathing which helps me focus before the set - like a ritual as I always do it. Maybe all in the mind but without it I don't seem to concentrate as much.

Do others do something similar or jst load the bar up and get on with it?

Theres some pricks who scream loudly before their set in my gym, or start pretending to punch themselves in the mirror. Looks massively idiotic, but who am I to judge... *Sigh*

Find a song I like. And pre-gym I always take a shower, dress for what im training. E.g. if im training legs ill wear shorts, if im training shoulders or back ill wear a vest.

I know a lot of lads who shout / scream and sometimes slap themselves about before or during lifts, it's just a way of getting their adrenaline up. I suppose it can be a bit distracting for the other gym users mind.

These same lads would find 'dressing for what your training' massively idiotic but then I suspect we are talking about different kinds of training here

FPMSL! Even after I'd been training with him for a while I thought he had smelling salts or something on the back of his hand. It took me a good while to realise he was just a little mental

haha pagan, its only because for example if im doing legs and wearing trackies or sweatpants they get massively hot after the first set and it becomes uncomfortable.
Likewise doing rows and pulldowns with a tshirt on starts to rub.

Every single training session I've had since last year I've listened to the same album Daft Punk - Discovery. Not sure why, liked training to it the first time I tried, and never bothered with anything else. I did change the EQ settings a little last session...

Other than that, so long as I slaughter a chicken before heading in, I'm good to go

Cannot say I have any rituals as such. I try and be very consistant with the way I approach and set up on the bar prior to lifting but not any OCD type thing

I talk myself through the heavy sets (Prob offputting to others lol)  and have certain music for certain sets. Slipknot/Metallica for most heavy sets. Dance for cardio!!

    Keep on training...

i will refuse to lift unless a good track is on the speakers or my MP3 player...
if i have my mp3 player i will only start a heavy lift when the tune hits a heavy part in the track...

i.e: i listen to metallica 'one', i wont lift on the quiet part of the track, i will skip most of it and get ready to lift just before the guitar solo kicks in.

on mudvayne 'dig' i will pretty much lift at the start of the track....

nothing worse than lifting to sh1t music

Sad, but that was actually the first one that sprung to mind.
